On the morning of May 20th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the "Starting from the Heart" Foundation (Kim Oanh Group) launched its Charitable Knowledge Library with the aim of building a knowledge ecosystem specifically for the community of people working in the fields of charity and social work.

Spreading humanitarian values

Over the years, alongside its business activities, Kim Oanh Group has consistently built a culture of learning and reading as a core value within the company.

The shared understanding among Kim Oanh Group's staff and employees is that reading is not only about acquiring knowledge but also about nurturing inner strength, broadening perspectives, and gaining a deeper understanding of each individual's responsibility to the community.

Based on that foundation, the Charitable Knowledge Library of the Starting from the Heart Foundation was established. More than just a publishing project, the Charitable Knowledge Library aims to become a knowledge platform that contributes to the professionalization of charitable activities in Vietnam.

According to journalist Nguyen Duc Lien, Honorary Chairman of the Foundation for Starting from the Heart, kindness alone is sometimes not enough on the journey of serving the community. Volunteers also need methods, skills, sustainable thinking, and deep understanding so that the values they give can reach the right needs and circumstances and create a lasting impact on society.

The books cover areas such as management, knowledge, human development, and social activism.

Through this bookshelf initiative, Kim Oanh Group and the "Starting from the Heart" Foundation aim to support individuals and organizations dedicated to community service; helping them gain more perspectives, practical experience, and a foundation of knowledge so that each charitable activity not only stems from the heart but is also guided by understanding and responsibility.

On its launch day, the Charitable Knowledge Library introduced six books revolving around the fields of management, knowledge, human development, and social activities, such as: Charity Creates Social Change, New Types of Non-Profit Organizations, Lean Impact, Smart Non-Profit Organizations, Charity (in the Flow of Culture and Society - From Tradition to Modernity), and the book "Go to Love - A Journey You Cannot Stand Outside of."

The titles in this first launch aim to build a professional, humane, and sustainable volunteer community. Beyond providing valuable knowledge on management, technology, and social activism, the works also offer new perspectives on the journey of creating sustainable impact, where humanistic values and community responsibility are always at the center.

Go to love - a journey from the heart.

Among the first six titles in the Charitable Knowledge Book Series, the essay collection "Going to Love - A Journey That Cannot Be Left Behind" by journalist Nguyen Duc Lien is a journey that "doesn't begin with footsteps" but with the heart of the journalist over the years.

In the book, journalist Nguyen Duc Lien shares that after more than forty years in journalism, he has experienced enough to be able to step back and dedicate the rest of his life to peaceful tranquility. His time involved with the activities of the "Starting from the Heart" Fund, formerly the Kim Oanh Charity Fund (Kim Oanh Group), has helped him realize that he still has the health and desire to contribute and serve the community.

"Going to Love" is a journey back to the tense days of the Covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities across the country, to relief efforts for people affected by natural disasters in the central and northern regions, and even cross-border charitable trips. This journey is not meant to relive painful times, but through the author's sincere and emotionally rich writing, readers can gain a deeper understanding of human compassion in times of hardship.

“I still remember, amidst the tense days of the pandemic, when we were bringing essential supplies to the lockdown area, a stranger took my hand, said little, just squeezed it gently and shed tears. At that moment, I understood that sometimes, what people need is not just material things, but empathy and the feeling of not being left behind,” journalist Nguyen Duc Lien wrote.

At the event, Ms. Dang Thi Kim Oanh (Chairwoman of Kim Oanh Group), along with the characters from "Go to Love," had the opportunity to "step out of the pages of the book" and interact with delegates and readers present at the program.

In particular, everyone will see Nhân (Nguyễn Phan Trọng Nhân), the child mentioned by the author in "Going to Love," who was only 4 years old at the time but had to fight against three illnesses: drug shock, Covid-19 infection, and dengue fever.

Amidst the family's distress, Ms. Dang Thi Kim Oanh stepped in to arrange for the safe transfer of little Nhan to Children's Hospital 1 so that Nhan could receive intensive care. After two weeks in the hospital, Nhan was out of danger, her body recovered, and her vital signs stabilized. "My family will be forever grateful," said Ms. Phan Thi Nho, Nhan's mother, expressing her gratitude for the compassionate heart of the Starting from the Heart Foundation.

At the event, journalist Nguyen Duc Lien thanked the members of the "Startup from the Heart" Fund, his teammates who have shared joys and sorrows with him over the years. The silent sacrifices, perseverance, and unconditional love of everyone along the way have become the inspiration for this book. In particular, the book would not be complete without the unwavering support of the author's family.

As the pages close, what remains in the author's mind, and in the reader's, is not the long and arduous journey, but the warmth of kind hearts and acts of kindness. This book is the result of the collective effort and solidarity of many compassionate souls.

Beyond its intellectual value, the Charitable Knowledge Library also carries a special humanitarian significance: all proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Self-Reliance Scholarship, run by the Heartfelt Starting Foundation, to continue supporting disadvantaged orphans and orphans who are children of organ donors.
