(kontumtv.vn) – In recent times, the Red Cross Societies at all levels in the province have implemented many meaningful activities, effectively playing a core role and acting as a bridge in humanitarian relief activities. Through these efforts, they have helped many people in difficult circumstances.

With the coordination of various sectors and levels, the Red Cross branches in Kon Tum province have built a widespread network of members and volunteers. The province currently has 20,000 members and 649 Red Cross volunteers. This is the core force participating in activities organized by the Red Cross and actively mobilizing support from organizations, individuals, and philanthropists. Implementing the campaign "Each organization, each individual linked to a humanitarian cause," Red Cross branches throughout the province are currently assisting 192 humanitarian causes, benefiting over 1,150 people. Each cause receives assistance ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 VND per month. Ms. Vo Thi My Thanh, President of the Kon Tum City Red Cross Society, said: “ Regarding humanitarian and charitable work, if we want to do it well, we must first do it from the heart. If we want to introduce addresses to benefactors, we must survey, compile a list, and then see what the households need. We will then introduce them to benefactors, who, through the Red Cross Society, act as a bridge to deliver the aid directly to the households.”

Mr. Nguyen Hong Mong, residing in Group 6, Duy Tan Ward, Kon Tum City, said: “ I see that the Red Cross Society's humanitarian work is very good every year. Compassion is shared with needy families , and empathy is spread throughout the community. People in this group and that group report that they know of difficult circumstances in their ward, and after learning about them, they post appeals and mobilize friends and acquaintances on social media.”

Having lost her husband prematurely, Ms. Y B'lỡi, residing in Kon Mơ Nay Kơ Tu 1 village, Đăk Blà commune, Kon Tum city, single-handedly raises two disabled children; her youngest son suffers from cerebral palsy and is bedridden. This is partly due to the constant encouragement, visits, and support from Red Cross officials at all levels in caring for her children. Ms. Y B'lỡi emotionally shared: “I don’t know what more to say. Since 2012, the Red Cross has been helping us with things like instant noodles, rice, food, MSG, and sugar every month. I am very grateful to the Red Cross ; it has given me a better spirit to care for my paralyzed son, to love him more, and to miss him more.”

The family of Ms. Ho Thi Tu, residing in Hamlet 2, Duy Tan Ward, Kon Tum City, has been designated as a humanitarian address by the Duy Tan Ward Red Cross Society since August 2024, receiving a monthly support of 200,000 VND.
