Lien Son commune covers an area of over 23 km² with more than 13,000 inhabitants belonging to 14 ethnic groups living together. Lien Son has become a land rich in cultural identity and dynamic in economic development.

The Thai people in Lien Son make up nearly half of the population, playing a central role in the unique cultural space. On moonlit nights, the lively Xoe dance connects generations; then there are the Han Khuong festival, the Lantern Festival, the Khai Ha ceremony of the Muong people, or the Tham Han cave festival… all creating a vibrant rhythm of life, spreading the spirit of unity among the ethnic groups.

Ms. Dinh Thanh Toan from Doan Ket village happily shared: "The village Party branch regularly pays attention to revising village regulations and customs to suit the new way of life. All residents participate in contributing ideas. From building the cultural center to preserving traditional festivals, everyone contributes labor and resources, making the spiritual life much richer. To date, 95% of villages in the commune have achieved cultural standards; 93.1% of households have been recognized as cultural families; 17 out of 20 villages have achieved the title of 'Happy Village'; the percentage of happy families has reached 85%; the happiness index of Lien Son in 2025 is expected to reach 68.8%, 4.4% higher than in 2020."

If culture is the thread that binds the spirit, then the economy is the material foundation for Lien Son's progress. In recent years, the commune's economic structure has shifted strongly towards sustainable commercial agriculture . On its vast fields, over 630 hectares of rice paddies yield more than 3,600 tons per year in two harvests. Not only rice, Lien Son also has 416 hectares of tea plantations, with an average yield of over 20 tons/ha, producing more than 8,500 tons. New economic models are also increasingly emerging: from growing pumpkins and gourds for seeds to high-quality vegetables replacing less productive rice fields.

Ms. Truong Thi Huong Giang, Head of the Economic Department of Lien Son Commune, said: "Building new rural areas in Lien Son is not just a movement, but the involvement of the entire political system and the people. To date, all 13 villages have met the standards for new rural areas, and 4 villages have met the standards for model new rural areas; the average per capita income has reached 47.3 million VND/year, an increase of 5% compared to 2020. This is the result of collective efforts and correct orientation."

Along with that, Lien Son has continuously invested in infrastructure – a factor considered a "boost" for the simultaneous development of culture and economy. The lighting system and village roads have been concreted and improved. In the past five years, the commune has concreted an additional 15 km of rural roads and built over 1 km of new irrigation canals… The main commune roads have been widened from 5 m to 7 m thanks to land donations from the people; 100% of households have access to the national power grid; 46% of households have access to clean water according to standards; schools and cultural centers have been newly built or upgraded, creating a new look for the rural area.
