Lithuania tightens regulations on goods passing through Russia and Belarus, preventing "dual purposes" from the Moscow market

The Lithuanian government has just further tightened regulations on transporting goods through the territories of Russia and Belarus, listing nearly 60 groups of goods that must comply with the new regulations, which will take effect from July 3.

According to Lithuanian Economy Minister Ausrine Armonaite, this is a necessary measure to prevent dual-purpose goods from entering the Russian market.

The Lithuanian Government has listed 57 groups of goods that must be declared by the manufacturer, which must be specified by the seller (exporter) and the buyer in a third country with a commitment not to unload, alter or resell the goods when they are transported through the territory of the Russian Federation and Belarus.

The groups of goods listed include electronics and components, electrical transformers, chemical raw materials that can be used in the production of electronics, electric motors, generators and telephones.

According to the Lithuanian government, these goods are multi-purpose and can be used for military purposes.

Lithuania shares a border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad and a 680 km border with Belarus.
