According to Lithuanian Economy Minister Ausrine Armonaite, this is a necessary measure to prevent dual-purpose goods from entering the Russian market.
The Lithuanian Government has listed 57 groups of goods subject to declaration from the manufacturer, which must be specified by the seller (exporter) and the buyer in a third country with a commitment not to unload, alter or resell the goods when they are transported through the territory of the Russian Federation and Belarus.
The groups of goods listed include electronics and components, electrical transformers, chemical raw materials that can be used in the production of electronics, electric motors, generators and telephones.
According to the Lithuanian government, these goods are of multi-purpose type and can be used for military purposes.
Lithuania shares a border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad and a 680 km border with Belarus.
