For the first time in the 88-year history of the Merseyside derby, Liverpool have won five consecutive games against arch-rivals Everton. They have not been playing very well, but they have still managed to score goals thanks to their star players up front.
In the 11th minute, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch entered the penalty area and volleyed the ball from a narrow angle into Everton's net, opening the score for Liverpool. Except for Gravenberch's brilliant move, Liverpool did not have too much of an overwhelming advantage over Everton, but the quality of their stars still helped them gain the advantage.
The first half ended with a big advantage for Liverpool when in the 29th minute, striker Ekitiké broke free and finished delicately to increase the score to 2-0 after a pass from Gravenberch. The French striker is having a dream start with his new club.

In the second half, Liverpool took the initiative to play slowly to protect their results. Thanks to that, Everton scored a goal to reduce the score to 1-2. Minute 58: Grealish had a smooth pre-assist pass, opening up an opportunity for Idrissa Gueye to score against Liverpool.
However, this was also the best effort of the away team in this match. Beating Everton with a minimum score of 2-1, Liverpool won 6 consecutive matches since the beginning of the season (5 in the Premier League and 1 in the Champions League).
