People buy E10 RON95 gasoline at Petrolimex Lai Chau Co., Ltd. Petrolimex Station No. 15.
Simply typing the phrase "E10 RON95 gasoline" on platforms like Facebook, TikTok, or YouTube easily reveals videos and articles sharing experiences after using this fuel. Many vehicle owners report experiencing engine hesitation, unstable operation, reduced acceleration, and even stalling at traffic lights. Others note a significant increase in fuel consumption compared to traditional gasoline. Numerous posts also argue that ethanol has a lower calorific value than gasoline, meaning drivers need to accelerate more to achieve the same power output, leading to higher fuel consumption.
In Lai Chau province, although E10 RON95 gasoline has only been introduced on a trial basis for a short time, it has become a topic of much interest. Some vehicle owners have had different opinions after trying it. Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam from residential group No. 11 (Doan Ket ward) shared: "My imported 2011 Toyota Camry showed some issues after using E10 RON95. I felt more lag in the throttle response than before. When driving on mountain roads, the car felt weaker."
Nam is not alone; several long-distance drivers also believe that when driving on the characteristic mountain passes of a mountainous province like Lai Chau, the feeling of engine acceleration changes somewhat. However, many also acknowledge that evaluating fuel efficiency requires a longer testing period rather than relying solely on initial impressions. Technical experts suggest that the vehicle's reaction when switching from conventional gasoline to biofuel can vary depending on the vehicle's age, engine technology, maintenance status, and the quality of the fuel system. Therefore, personal assessments are not sufficient to confirm the quality of a fuel that is widely used around the world.
In response to public concerns about the implementation of E10 RON95 bioethanol fuel, the Department of Industry and Trade has been playing an advisory and state management role in ensuring that the transition process proceeds according to schedule, safely, and effectively.
Mr. Tran Van Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, stated: The Department has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan for the implementation of the business and use of E10 RON95 gasoline in the province; strengthening propaganda and providing official information to the people and businesses. At the same time, it regularly directs and inspects gasoline business activities, closely monitoring the quality of fuel circulating in the market. All E10 RON95 gasoline must meet all national technical standards and undergo a rigorous testing process before being put into consumption, contributing to protecting consumer rights and building trust so that people can confidently use this new fuel.
From June 1st, E10 RON95 gasoline has been distributed nationwide, but Petrolimex's gas stations have been selling both types of gasoline simultaneously since May 20th, 2026, to allow people to access and experience them. To date, there have been no official reports regarding the quality of E10 RON95 gasoline not meeting standards and affecting vehicles. Petrolimex Lai Chau Co., Ltd. not only ensures a stable supply but also pays special attention to product quality before releasing it to the market. All E10 RON95 gasoline is imported, stored, and distributed according to strict control procedures, fully meeting current technical standards. More than 30 gas stations belonging to the Petrolimex Lai Chau system have officially started selling this product, creating favorable conditions for people to choose from a variety of fuel products.

According to Mr. Tran Huy Quyen, Deputy Director of Petrolimex Lai Chau Co., Ltd., E10 RON95 bioethanol is a combination of 10% bioethanol and 90% traditional mineral gasoline. With a very high octane rating of 109 RON, ethanol improves anti-knock properties, supporting more stable and efficient engine operation. In addition, the higher oxygen content in ethanol compared to conventional gasoline ensures more complete combustion, reducing harmful emissions into the environment. Many countries around the world choose this fuel to achieve sustainable development and reduce carbon emissions.
The use of E10 RON95 bioethanol fuel is an important step in the green energy development roadmap. During implementation, public concerns are understandable, especially given the conflicting information circulating on social media. However, instead of relying solely on subjective opinions or unverified videos, consumers should access information from regulatory agencies, businesses, and objective scientific sources. Practical experience will provide the clearest answer regarding the quality of E10 RON95 fuel.
