Following the global box office success of Oppenheimer (2023), the distributor is re-screening The Dark Knight Trilogy nationwide. "This is an opportunity for audiences to revisit the work that made Christopher Nolan's name," said a representative of the distributor.
At film forums, many audiences said they were looking forward to seeing the film on the big screen. According to Collider, The Dark Knight Trilogy will also be shown in some theaters in the US from September 16.
According to MovieWeb, The Dark Knight Trilogy holds a special place in the hearts of movie fans. Nolan's direction and Christian Bale's participation as Batman created a compelling story throughout the three films. Bale's performance brought psychological depth to the character, standing out from previous actors. All three films were successful both critically and at the box office.
The first part - Batman Begins (2005) - was the ninth highest-grossing film of 2005 ($373.6 million), was praised by the British Film Institute for its timeliness, and was also one of the most influential works of the early 21st century. Critic Roger Ebert said: "The film made me focus less on the action and more on the story and characters. The work is not simply entertainment".
The Dark Knight (2008) - released on October 20 - is the most critically acclaimed of the trilogy, grossing over a billion dollars. The film combines many genres: action scenes, thrilling chases, complex characters and dialogue of a psychological film, while also being full of twists and turns like a science fiction film. Nolan shows his talent for balancing the film's rhythm, despite mixing many genres with a series of plots.
The cast is a big plus for the film, notably actor Heath Ledger in his role as the villain Joker. Ledger passed away before the film was released. In 2009, the actor won the 81st Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Nolan concluded his Batman trilogy with The Dark Knight Rises (2012), released domestically on November 10. According to the Guardian, Nolan directed the film with confidence, using heroic elements to heighten the drama of the story. Christy Lemire of AP wrote: "Nolan concludes his Batman series in spectacular, ambitious fashion." The Dark Knight Rises is the 13th film to reach the billion-dollar mark.
