Despite being the capital city, Hanoi consistently ranks among the top in the country in terms of agricultural production scale. The total value of agricultural production has grown by 2% or more over the past several years. The quality of Hanoi's agricultural products is steadily improving, gradually establishing its position in the global market, with export value reaching up to 1.5 billion USD per year.

Besides its large-scale agricultural production, Hanoi is also known as the "land of a hundred crafts." Hanoi's craft village products are considered very diverse, abundant, and unique. Currently, 327 craft villages and traditional craft villages have been recognized by the Hanoi People's Committee, generating an average annual revenue of over 24,000 billion VND.

Besides production volume and quantity, the quality of agricultural products and handicraft products is a matter of particular concern to the Hanoi People's Committee, where the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program is considered the most accurate standard and measure. Implementing this program initiated by the Prime Minister , the entire city now has 2,711 products evaluated and classified with 3 OCOP stars or higher, surpassing any other province or city nationwide.

To promote agricultural development and rural economy, especially to exploit the value of traditional craft villages, the Hanoi People's Committee annually directs the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Industry and Trade, and the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion to organize numerous fairs and trade weeks to promote and introduce agricultural products, craft village products, and OCOP products. The attention from Hanoi City is a great motivation for businesses to boost production and trade.

In recent years, the frequency of trade fairs and trade promotion weeks has been quite high. However, the effectiveness of trade promotion remains questionable. Many trade fairs and weeks, especially those organized by district-level People's Committees, are quite small in scale. Inadequacies in location, limitations in product diversity and variety, or low communication capacity sometimes limit the effectiveness of trade promotion activities in certain areas…

In this context, the 3rd Hanoi Agricultural Products and Traditional Craft Villages Festival in 2024 can be seen as the city's next major effort to promote trade connections, boost commerce, and expand markets for agricultural and traditional craft products; thereby creating momentum for organizations, businesses, and producers to increase investment and boldly expand production. Promoting trade activities for agricultural products and traditional craft villages is highly significant.

This becomes especially important when Hanoi – the thousand-year-old capital, the heart of the country, a top destination, and a representative of Vietnam's image in the eyes of tourists and international friends whenever they set foot in the capital.

In parallel with the goal of promoting agricultural and craft village development, building on the success of the two previous editions, the 3rd Hanoi Agricultural Products and Craft Village Festival in 2024 is expected to introduce and promote the culture, tourism, and achievements in agriculture and rural areas of the Capital; at the same time, contributing to building the brand and image of the Capital as a dynamically developing and highly competitive city domestically, regionally, and internationally.
