Specifically, the northern bank of the Duong Van Duong canal recorded 8 landslide points with a total length of 112m and a depth of 2-3m. The southern bank of the 7 Thuoc canal also showed 2 landslide points more than 50m long and about 3m deep, with many sections of the road surface cracked, creating large gaps due to soil and sand being washed away.
Mr. Le Phuoc Ven, Vice Chairman of the Tan Thanh District People's Committee, along with specialized units, conducted a field survey and requested the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment to promptly implement thorough solutions to ensure the safety of irrigation works and the lives of the people during the upcoming rainy season.
Previously, Long An province conducted inspections of 393 irrigation works throughout the area. The inspections revealed damage to 18 works, mainly affecting components such as the dike surface, dike body, dike base, and regulating sluices.
The Provincial People's Committee has directed localities to urgently maintain and lay gravel on dikes, reinforce landslide areas, and repair the culvert system, ensuring the stable operation of the irrigation system during this year's rainy season.
