The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has just issued a special flood bulletin on the Thao River (Red River).
Accordingly, flood on Thao River At Yen Bai station, Lao Cai province, water level is rising rapidly due to heavy rain combined with discharge operation of Dong Sung hydropower plant (discharge at 2:00 a.m. on September 30 was 2,613 m³/s).
Floods on the Ma River (Thanh Hoa) and Ca River (Nghe An) are rising. Floods on the Dong Nai River at Ta Lai station have little change according to the operation of upstream hydropower plants.
Water level at 1:00 a.m. on September 30 on Thao River at Yen Bai station was 33.68m, 1.68m above alarm level 3; on Ma River at Giang station was 6.30m, 0.2m below alarm level 3; on Ca River at Nam Dan station was 6.80m, 0.1m below alarm level 2; on Dong Nai River at Ta Lai station was 112.73m, 0.23m above alarm level 2.
It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, floods on Thao and Ma rivers will rise above level 3, and Ca rivers will rise above level 2.
In the next 12-24 hours, floods on Thao and Ma rivers will fluctuate above level 3, and Ca rivers will drop to level 2. In the next 24 hours, floods on Dong Nai river will slowly decrease and fluctuate above level 2.
The meteorological agency warns that from now until October 1, floods on rivers in the North and Ha Tinh will continue to rise. During this flood, the flood peak on Hoang Long River (Ninh Binh) and the flood peak on small rivers will be at level BĐ2-BĐ3 and above BĐ3; the flood peak on Lo River (Tuyen Quang), the upper reaches of Thai Binh River (Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh), and the lower reaches of La River (Ha Tinh) will be at level BĐ1-BĐ2 and above BĐ2.
Risk floods occurred in low-lying areas along rivers, urban areas in the Northern region, from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, Dong Nai; flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in the mountainous areas of the North, from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh.
Forecasting heavy rain in the North and Thanh Hoa today (September 30), the meteorological agency said that Lao Cai, Phu Tho, and Tuyen Quang provinces will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 40-80mm, locally over 150mm.
Other places in the North and Thanh Hoa have moderate to heavy rain, with common rainfall of 20-50mm, and in some places very heavy rain over 100mm.
From the night of September 30, rain in the above areas gradually decreased.
