Outside, the rhythmic sound of footsteps preparing for a new shift echoed. In that quiet space, the kettle had just boiled, and the aroma of hot coffee began to gently spread throughout the room.
The police officer slowly poured coffee into his familiar cup. The rising steam carried a rich aroma, dispelling some of the fatigue after his night shift. The morning coffee at the unit wasn't as fancy as at a cafe; just a few spoonfuls of coffee mixed with hot water. But it was precisely this simplicity that made it special.

For Vietnamese police officers, a cup of coffee is not just a familiar beverage, but also a brief moment of calm before starting a day's duty. A sip of mildly bitter coffee, the warmth spreading down the throat, helps to awaken the mind.
Some mornings, the unit members would sit together for a few brief minutes, each with a cup of coffee. They would chat about their night shift and the situation in the area. The aroma of coffee quietly permeated the duty room, further strengthening their camaraderie.

Not infrequently, the soldier would have just poured his coffee but hadn't even had a chance to drink it when the duty officer's phone rang. He would quickly put the coffee down, put on his jacket, and head off on duty. The coffee might get cold, but his sense of responsibility never cools down.
Therefore, in the rhythm of life at the unit, the image of a police officer with a cup of coffee in the morning has become a simple yet meaningful moment, a moment of preparation for another day of maintaining peace for the people.
