According to Sport , Atletico's management is reassessing the team's situation amid recent underwhelming performances. Simeone, whose contract runs until 2027, is reportedly experiencing a strained relationship with Director of Football Mateu Alemany, particularly regarding the club's transfer strategy.
Another factor that Atletico must consider regarding coach Simeone's future is the very high salary of the 54-year-old. Simeone currently earns around 13 million euros per season, placing him among the highest-paid coaches in the world .
Sources from Spain indicate that Director Alemany has begun searching for potential replacements. One name mentioned is Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola. However, the manager is reportedly keen to continue working in the Premier League.

In the current season, Atletico are third in La Liga, about 10 points behind league leaders Barcelona. In the Champions League, the Madrid side disappointed by losing to Bodo/Glimt in the final qualifying match, thus having to enter the play-off round to compete for a place in the knockout stage. This inconsistent run of results has called into question Simeone's position.
If Atletico fails to achieve its goals this season, it's a possible scenario that coach Simeone will proactively leave next summer.
However, parting ways with Simeone will be a difficult decision for Atletico. In almost a decade and a half at the helm, the Argentinian coach has led the club into one of the most successful periods in its modern history.
Under coach Simeone, Atletico won two La Liga titles, two Europa League titles, one Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, and two European Super Cups. The team also reached the Champions League final twice and competed on equal footing with Real Madrid and Barcelona on numerous occasions.
If he leaves Atletico, Simeone himself has admitted that he wants to manage Inter Milan, the team he played for from 1997–1999.
