According to traditional customs, the five-fruit trays usually have bananas, grapefruit, pineapple, oranges, tangerines, dragon fruit... Although it is called a five-fruit tray, many people order up to more than 10 types of fruit to make it full and beautiful.

The selling price is usually from 500,000 VND/fruit tray or more. According to many shop owners, this year, due to damage to fruit trees caused by storm No. 3, prices are high, so the selling price of fruit trays has also increased.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, owner of the “Thanh Beo Fruits” store on Tuy An Street (Hai Duong City) said: “The store has many models for customers to choose from. We make as much as we can, and customers take it all. Most customers call to order in advance. I have to mobilize a lot of manpower, even working in the evening to meet customer demand.”

Ms. Ngoc Anh, owner of a fruit shop on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street (Hai Duong City) said that she only accepts the service of making five-fruit trays until December 25 because the number of customers is large and there is not enough supply to meet the demand. All the fruits are hand-picked by her, ensuring quality. Her shop also accommodates customers who want to order unique and strange five-fruit trays.

Convenient and beautiful, many people buy pre-made fruit trays to decorate the Vietnamese Tet space.

Not only in Hai Duong City, many fruit shops in other localities are also quite busy during this time. A fruit shop owner in Lai Vu Commune (Kim Thanh) said that this year, many people have chosen to make ready-made five-fruit trays. To meet the needs of customers in rural areas, the shop accepts orders from 300,000 VND/tray or more. Although bananas are expensive, the shop still tries to ensure that there are enough traditional fruits for customers to worship on Tet holiday.

Many people said they choose to buy pre-made fruit trays because it is very convenient. People who are busy at the end of the year can sit at home and choose in advance from the sample online or from the fruit shop. Then send a request for the shop to make and ship it to their home.

“The fruit trays made by stores are often more beautiful than those bought by ourselves because they have experience and accessories. If we buy them to display, it takes a lot of time to choose all the fruits we like and find additional accessories. Adding up all the costs, the price is not much cheaper and the aesthetics are far inferior,” said Ms. Trinh Thi Hoa in Cam Thuong ward (Hai Duong city).

The fruit trays made by the stores are not only beautiful but also firmly glued for long-distance transportation. Therefore, before, during and after Tet, many people buy them to worship at temples and pagodas or display them in the Vietnamese Tet cultural space to take souvenir photos.
