Man City determined to have Wirtz's signature to replace De Bruyne.

According to Daily Mail , coach Pep Guardiola believes that the German star can bring dynamism, creativity and become Man City's leading brain similar to what De Bruyne has done over the past decade.

Wirtz is one of Europe's hottest talents. He was instrumental in Leverkusen's unbeaten Bundesliga title run in the 2023/24 season. Since the start of last season, Wirtz has been involved in 41 goals in 57 games, proving himself to be an effective striker.

Man City are said to be leading the race for Wirtz's signature, especially with De Bruyne set to leave the Etihad at the end of the season. Several teams in the Saudi Pro League and MLS are competing to take the Belgian midfielder away from Europe.

De Bruyne has made 413 appearances, scored 106 goals, assisted 174, and won every trophy imaginable with the club. Yet Guardiola admits that replacing him is almost impossible.

"There are players who are irreplaceable," Pep said. "Saying goodbye to someone like Kevin is very difficult, like it was with Kompany or Aguero. They were not just players, they were symbols of an era. Kevin will forever be part of my memories and the team's."

The summer could see a clear generational shift at the Etihad, with De Bruyne set to leave and potentially make way for a young talent like Wirtz.

Who will replace Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City? Reports that Kevin De Bruyne could move to the Saudi Pro League have sparked speculation about how Manchester City will fill the void left by the creative midfielder.
