" Jadon Sancho will participate in an individual training program separate from the first team, while the team's disciplinary matter is resolved ," Man Utd announced on their homepage.
The incident stemmed from Man Utd's 1-3 defeat to Arsenal in the fourth round of the Premier League. When asked about Jadon Sancho's absence, coach Erik Ten Hag said: " We didn't pick him for his performance on the training ground. You have to perform at the highest level every day at Man Utd. I have many options and Sancho was not selected today ."
Sancho was dropped from the Man Utd first team.
Less than an hour later, on social network X, Sancho posted a response to the Man Utd head coach. He wrote: " Please don't believe everything you read. I don't allow people to say things that are completely untrue. All I want is to play football with a smile and contribute to the team. I respect the decision of the coaching staff. I play with great players and I am very grateful for that, because every week of work is a challenge. I will fight for Man Utd no matter what happens . "
On September 12, Sancho deleted this post from his personal page. He is said to have had a private conversation with coach Erik Ten Hag to clarify his future before the match against Brighton on September 16. According to Sky Sports, Director of Football John Murtough and CEO Richard Arnold also participated in resolving the conflict.
Jadon Sancho has not lived up to expectations since joining Man Utd in the summer of 2021. In 82 matches, the England international has scored just 12 goals and assisted six times. Sancho has not made much of an impression and has been inconsistent.
Last season, coach Erik Ten Hag tried to change the player's habit of arriving late by scheduling training an hour earlier than his teammates. Initially, this method worked, but Sancho did not stick to it for long.
Coach Ten Hag also took Sancho to the Netherlands for a special training program to treat his mental and physical problems. However, Sancho's performance did not change much.
