On September 15th, the Lien Chieu District Police ( Da Nang City) initiated legal proceedings and temporarily detained suspect Tran Xuan Trung (33 years old, residing in Nam Thanh village, Cam Duong commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province) for the crime of theft.
Since June, Da Nang City, especially Lien Chieu District, has seen a series of burglaries and thefts at shophouses.

Taking advantage of the rows of adjacent shophouses, many of which are either unrented or have incomplete interiors, thieves break in and steal property. The suspects also break into adjacent houses that are already occupied.
The crimes usually occur late at night, with reckless behavior; in some cases, thieves even steal property left on the bedside table while the homeowners are asleep. The thieves leave no trace.
The Criminal Investigation Team of Lien Chieu District Police, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Department of Da Nang City Police, expanded the investigation and initially determined that the suspect was a professional thief who left no clues.

Considering the suspect's extensive experience and previous convictions, and after reviewing his records and comparing his modus operandi, the Lien Chieu District Police put Tran Xuan Trung under surveillance. Trung had previously been arrested by the Criminal Police Team of Lien Chieu District Police in 2017.
Verification results in Ha Tinh revealed that Trung served his sentence at Binh Dien Prison, was released in April 2023, but did not return home or contact his family. While the Lien Chieu District Police were investigating, four more thefts occurred with similar methods. This time, Trung was tracked down, but he again "disappeared".
On September 14th, the Lien Chieu District Police arrested Trung while he was hiding in Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province). Trung confessed that from June until now, he had committed more than 25 thefts in Da Nang City, using the method of renting motorbikes to go to deserted residential areas and then climbing from one house to another.
Trung confessed to committing 25 thefts in Da Nang City.
Not only did Trung wear gloves, but he also wore socks to completely erase any traces on the floor, road, and walls... However, this very characteristic matched the case file recorded by the Criminal Police Team of Lien Chieu District Police when they arrested Trung in 2017, thus gradually revealing the suspect's true identity.
While in hiding, Trung didn't stay in hotels but rented guesthouses to avoid having to report his whereabouts, and he only stayed for one day before leaving. Trung usually rented or bought used motorbikes without registration papers.
Trung stole 26 mobile phones, 5 laptops, and approximately 10 million VND in cash, totaling over 300 million VND. Currently, the Lien Chieu District Police have recovered 4 mobile phones and are expanding their investigation into other theft cases.
