On September 15, Lien Chieu District Police ( Da Nang City) prosecuted and temporarily detained suspect Tran Xuan Trung (33 years old, residing in Nam Thanh village, Cam Duong commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh) for theft of property.
Since June, in Da Nang City, especially Lien Chieu District, there have been consecutive break-ins and thefts at shophouses.

Taking advantage of the rows of shophouses built next to each other, many of which have not been rented out or have not yet been furnished, thieves broke in to steal property. The suspect also broke into adjacent houses with people living there to steal.
Crimes are often committed late at night, with reckless behavior. There have been cases of thefts of property left at the head of the bed, while the homeowner was sleeping. The thief left no trace.
The Criminal Police Team of Lien Chieu District Police coordinated with the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police to expand the investigation, initially determining that the suspect had professional skills and did not leave any clues.
A case of Trung breaking into a bedroom to steal
Believing that the suspect had a lot of experience and a criminal record, after checking records and comparing methods of operation, Lien Chieu District Police put Tran Xuan Trung in their sights. Trung was arrested by the Criminal Police Team of Lien Chieu District Police in 2017.
The verification results in Ha Tinh revealed that Trung served his sentence at Binh Dien Prison and was released in April 2023 but did not return home or contact his family. While Lien Chieu District Police were investigating, four more thefts occurred with similar methods. This time, Trung was traced but continued to "disappear".
On September 14, Lien Chieu District Police arrested Trung while he was hiding in Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh). Trung confessed that since June, he had committed more than 25 thefts in Da Nang City, using the method of renting a motorbike to go to deserted residential areas, climbing from house to house.

Not only did Trung wear gloves, he also wore socks to completely erase traces on the floor, road, wall... But this feature also matched the case file that the Criminal Police Team of Lien Chieu District Police recorded when they arrested Trung in 2017, so from there the suspect's true identity gradually emerged.
While on the run, Trung did not stay in a hotel but rented a motel so he did not have to worry about reporting his papers. He only stayed for one day and then left. Trung often rented a motorbike or bought a used motorbike without papers.
Trung stole 26 phones, 5 laptops, about 10 million VND in cash, totaling more than 300 million VND. Currently, Lien Chieu District Police have recovered 4 cell phones and are expanding their investigation into other theft cases.
