In the small hamlet of Tổ 14 (Phước Ấm village), Trần Thị Mơ, a student, and her grandmother, over 75 years old, rely on each other for their livelihood by collecting scrap metal. Orphaned at a young age and losing her father when she was only 3, misfortune has befallen her repeatedly, but she remains steadfast in her determination to learn to read and write.
Tran Thi Mo is one of the cases prioritized for assistance by the Women's Union of Thang An commune (formerly Binh Trieu commune). In particular, since 2022, when the "Godmother" program was implemented, Mo has been sponsored by the union.
Even after the administrative reorganization, the Women's Union of the commune continued to promptly visit and encourage students, ensuring that support was not interrupted. This school year, 2025-2026, Tran Thi Mo is a student in class 10/1 at Tieu La High School, Thang Binh commune.
Mơ shared: “I feel fortunate to have been sponsored by the women's association, which has given me the opportunity to study. I will try my best to study well so that when I get a job, I can come back and help other orphans like me.”

Although the merger process has caused some difficulties in connecting and maintaining resources, the Women's Union of Thang An commune still recognizes this as a program with profound humanitarian significance that needs continued attention and implementation.
Ms. Ho Thi My Le, President of the Women's Union of Thang An commune, said that, thanks to its prestige and spirit of sharing, the union has mobilized philanthropists inside and outside the commune to provide regular sponsorship, with an average support of 300,000 VND per case per month, committed to supporting until the end of the high school year.
The Women's Union of Thang An commune recently successfully held its Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Among the programs agreed upon by the Congress for the new term, there is an active effort to mobilize and connect with benefactors to sponsor disadvantaged children, helping them continue their education.
“During the 2025-2030 term, we will pay even more attention to the ‘Godmother’ program. This timely encouragement not only provides material support but also serves as a strong emotional foundation, conveying the warm message ‘You always have a mother’ to orphans, opening up a brighter future for them,” said Ms. Ho Thi My Le.
