With the spirit of "leaving no one behind," the Association has implemented a series of practical activities, with a particular focus on social welfare, supporting vulnerable people, and helping members in difficult circumstances to rise above their challenges. Through these efforts, humanitarian values have spread widely, transforming difficulties into motivation and sharing into community strength.
Warm hearts
The experience in Phu Luong ward shows that social welfare and care for women members and children in difficult circumstances are always a top priority for the Women's Union of the ward. During the recent Lunar New Year of the Snake 2025, the Women's Union of the ward presented 114 gifts worth a total of 33 million VND to women members in difficult circumstances, orphaned children, and women heads of near-poor households. Each gift not only had material value but also contained great spiritual encouragement, helping families celebrate the New Year more warmly.

Besides gift-giving programs during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), the Association also demonstrates its noble responsibility through the "Godmother" program. Accordingly, in 2025, the Association and its branches mobilized, collected donations, and established a fund to provide sponsorship of 500,000 VND/month/child to 9 orphaned children from disadvantaged backgrounds in residential areas: 5A, 13, 4... Notably, Duong Van Do in residential area 17 received sponsorship from a benefactor with support of 1.5 million VND per month - this is proof of the Association's close attention, understanding, and profound sharing with those less fortunate.
The impact of charitable activities is further amplified by the positive response from local branches. These branches donated 62 gift packages, with the Women's Association of Residential Area 13 alone contributing 20 packages to needy members. In 2025, the Association reviewed and proposed to the City Women's Union to award a gift worth 5 million VND to Ms. Dang Thi Sang in the Women's Association of Residential Area 14 – a single mother with particularly difficult circumstances… These specific numbers and names paint a vivid picture of the compassion of the Phu Luong Women's Union.
In addition, the Association, together with philanthropist Bui Kien Dung, donated 25 clean water tanks worth 50 million VND to the people of Nam Can commune, Ha Tinh province. When typhoons No. 9, 10, and 11 caused serious flooding, five charitable groups from branches 9A, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22 set out to support flood-affected areas with a total value of over 300 million VND. Locally, branches 7A and 8A promptly assisted Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phi Nga (86 years old), the wife of a fallen soldier, helping her overcome the consequences of flooding and mobilizing nearly 5 million VND in cash to help her stabilize her life after the storm.
In early December 2025, in response to the "Accompanying the Border Region" program launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the Phu Luong Ward Women's Union also organized the "Warm Winter in the Border Region" activity in Truong Ha commune, Cao Bang province. At this event, the Union's delegation visited and presented gifts to students at the Lung Mat branch of Soc Ha Kindergarten, including blankets, warm clothes, and food. In addition, the Union also presented many meaningful gifts to poor and near-poor households in Khuoi Pang hamlet; donated 1,000 notebooks to disadvantaged students and 5 gift packages to poor households headed by women...
Empowering women economically .
Besides relief and charitable activities, the Phu Luong Ward Women's Union identifies "giving a fishing rod rather than a fish" as a sustainable solution for women to rise out of poverty and take control of their lives. Enhancing women's economic empowerment is the key to building happy families and prosperous communities.

One of the outstanding achievements is the management of loan capital from the Social Policy Bank. The Association has successfully fulfilled its role in entrusting the lending of loan capital from the Social Policy Bank in Ha Dong, managing loan capital from 14 savings and loan groups with a surplus of nearly 62 billion VND for 575 borrowing households.
In addition, the Association continues to maintain and attract members to participate in the TYM Fund model (a charitable microfinance organization of the Vietnam Women's Union). To date, the total number of members in the ward is 472, with capital exceeding 9.8 billion VND and savings exceeding 3.5 billion VND; there are no outstanding or bad debts in the ward; the loan approval process is transparent, accurate, and targets the right beneficiaries. Verification shows that the beneficiaries use the funds for the intended purpose and utilize the borrowed capital to develop their family economy and stabilize their lives.
Ms. Dao Thi Kim, head of the Savings and Loan Group in residential area 13, said that the group is currently managing over 5 billion VND and has 58 borrowers. The capital borrowed by households and women has been very effective, with no instances of late payments or bad debts. Thanks to this capital, many households have overcome difficulties and improved their lives, such as the families of Mr. Nguyen Cong Sinh, Mr. Nguyen Quang Bang, Mr. Le Dinh Vu, etc. In particular, some households have built stable businesses, opened production workshops, and will soon repay the entire loan, leaving the rest to those in greater need.
Also serving as the head of the Savings and Loan Group in residential area 13, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phan - Head of the Front Committee of residential area 7 - is effectively managing outstanding loans exceeding 3 billion VND, helping 45 households access capital for their businesses. Furthermore, she is a pioneer in the "Clean House, Clean Alley" movement. The image of her and other members caring for the 800-meter-long flower-lined road along the canal in the Nhan Trach residential cluster has become familiar to the local people. The road is not only beautiful but also safer for the students thanks to the care and maintenance of these women. She also keeps the flame alive for cultural and sports activities by maintaining the Yoga Club, helping to strengthen solidarity within the residential area...
Implementing poverty reduction and economic development support programs, from the Women's Union of the ward to all 32/32 women's branches in residential areas, activities have been carried out to visit, encourage, and assist 11/11 disadvantaged households headed by women. The Union proactively advises the Ward People's Committee on solutions to support and assist disadvantaged households in the area, regularly visiting, giving gifts, and providing financial support for children's education during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year)...
At the same time, the Women's Union of the ward also focused on and implemented vocational training and job placement programs. The Union coordinated with relevant agencies to help 205 workers (including 164 women) find jobs with stable incomes ranging from 4.5 to 6 million VND per month. In addition, the Union reviewed and identified 39 women who wished to learn beverage mixing to start their own businesses...
Currently, the Association is also planning to implement programs such as the "Support for Hanoi Women's Entrepreneurship Project 2018-2025" and the "Connecting Female Small Business Owners in the 4.0 Era" model, with the desire to create more opportunities for more women to rise up and develop economically.
Not only are women in Phu Luong skilled in economic activities, but they are also key players in building a civilized urban lifestyle. The "Phu Luong Women Say No to Plastic Waste" program, linked to the "All People Unite to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Cities" campaign, has received enthusiastic support. The peak week from July 12th to September 15th, 2025, focusing on disease prevention and environmental protection, has spread widely, with 17 plastic baskets donated to outstanding members. 100% of members have registered to implement the "5 No's and 3 Cleanliness" model, the "6 No's" in urban management, and the "7 Remembers" when participating in traffic. The association also plays an active role in monitoring food safety and hygiene, ensuring that each member is a knowledgeable supervisor.
The collective efforts of the Phu Luong Ward Women's Union have created a combined strength. This is the strength of compassion and determination to build a community free from hardship, where women are not only supported but also given opportunities to assert their power and position in modern society.
