On December 9, 2024, the Ministry of National Defence decided to transfer the 29th Signal Battalion (3rd Corps Staff Headquarters) and the 26th Signal Battalion (4th Corps Staff Headquarters) and reorganize them into the 29th Signal Regiment under the 34th Corps. In the early days, the unit faced many difficulties such as scattered barracks, the need to mobilize equipment from multiple directions, and harsh weather conditions.

Nevertheless, the entire Regiment quickly reorganized, established regular discipline, and ensured communication and television coverage for the Command Headquarters and other agencies in all situations.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung, Political Commissar of the Regiment, said: “Every unit faces initial difficulties, but our willpower and discipline helped us overcome them. The Regiment has simultaneously implemented tasks such as stabilizing the organization, consolidating regular order, improving the quality of training, especially training in operating digital equipment and handling situations in a high-tech combat environment.”

Thanks to practical training, the Regiment successfully completed its mission of ensuring communication for exercises, conferences, and inspections by the Corps Command and the Ministry of National Defense. The unit proactively developed transmission line plans and resolved incidents at each level; it maintained stable operation of multiple command channels from the primary to the backup lines.

In particular, the Regiment participated in ensuring communication for training and rehearsals for the parade and march commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, and was highly praised.

In addition to its professional duties, the Regiment strictly maintains the political day schedule, conducts Party branch, unit, and youth union meetings; and launches emulation movements to improve the awareness, discipline, and conduct of military personnel.

Captain Pham Huu Vu, Secretary of the 1st Youth Union Branch, said: “The youth of the Regiment are determined to take the lead in training and mastering information and communication technology. The branches regularly hold political activities and launch emulation campaigns aimed at achieving professional expertise, strong character, and readiness to undertake any mission.”

In addition to its professional duties, the 29th Signal Regiment actively cooperates with local authorities in carrying out civilian outreach work. Over the past year, the unit has supported the construction of two new houses for disadvantaged households, organized gift-giving to families entitled to preferential policies, and participated in repairing and clearing rural roads. Currently, officers and soldiers are surveying and assisting households affected by natural disasters in rebuilding their homes by the end of November 2025.

Captain Pham Huu Vu shared: “Helping the people starts with small and practical things. We assist in building houses, repairing roads, cleaning up, and giving gifts to poor households. These activities contribute to strengthening the bond between the military and the people and supporting local development.”

The agricultural production activities have been maintained steadily, contributing to self-sufficiency in vegetables, meat, and eggs, improving soldiers' meals, and fostering a work ethic among new recruits. Corporal Phan Huynh Dang Khoa (Company 4, Battalion 2, 29th Signal Regiment) said: “These agricultural production sessions help us understand the value of sharing and bonding between officers and soldiers. Thanks to this activity, the unit's atmosphere is always more joyful and united.”

After one year of establishment, the 29th Signal Regiment achieved many outstanding results. The unit was awarded a Commendation Flag by the Party Committee and the Command of the 34th Army Corps; many individuals received commendations. At the 2025 All-Round Excellent Regiment Commander and Political Commissar Competition, the Regiment was awarded a certificate of merit for its achievements in ensuring communication. Lieutenant Colonel Vu Van Ha, Regiment Commander, and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung, Political Commissar of the Regiment, won first prize in the individual category; the Regiment won first prize in the team category.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung added: "Although the past year is not long, it has shown the spirit of solidarity and the efforts to overcome difficulties of the entire Regiment. We have built a solid foundation for a new phase of development."

Officers and soldiers will continue to uphold and promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers," and the traditions of the communications troops: Timely - Accurate - Confidential - Safe. The unit will also improve barracks, enhance training quality, and build a strong team of officers to meet the requirements of the mission in the new situation.
