A Japanese technology company has just launched a new feature that allows cat owners to monitor their cat's stress levels through artificial intelligence (AI). This technology works based on smart wearable devices specifically for pets.
A company called Rabo, known for its technology products for cats, has developed a smart collar called Catlog. The device is capable of recording the daily activities of cats such as eating, sleeping, walking, running and drinking water. The collected data will be sent to a phone application, allowing owners to monitor their pets anytime, anywhere.
Rabo recently added a feature to analyze cat stress levels. The AI system will track changes in pet behavior over 30 days and provide a “stress score” based on daily indicators, including resting breathing rate and sleep quality. If there are signs of abnormalities, the app will send an alert to the user.
According to Yukiko Iyo, President and CEO of Rabo, the company used 10 billion data points collected from more than 46,000 cats wearing Catlog to train the AI system. Based on this big data platform, the algorithm can detect early signs of stress or health problems in cats, which are animals that have difficulty expressing emotions clearly.
In addition to its stress detection feature, the Catlog also supports locating stray cats. The device is currently on sale for 14,850 yen (about $102 ).
Rabo says its goal is to help owners spot health problems early, allowing them to get their cats to the vet sooner. The company believes that taking care of their pets’ mental and physical health will lead to happier lives for both cats and owners.
