English football fans have long wondered why a prominent player like David Beckham has not been knighted, an important title for his contributions to sports and society recognized by the British Royal Family.

The question has finally been answered as David Beckham is set to be knighted in the King Charles Birthday Honours list, which is expected to be carried out next week.
According to the British press, David Beckham has been nominated for knighthood at least twice (in 2011 and 2021). However, due to events related to the 50-year-old former football star's personal life, the last nominations were not made. It was only now, more than 14 years after the first nomination, that his wish was granted.
David Beckham had an illustrious football career, playing for top clubs including MU, Real Madrid, PSG, AC Milan. He was also captain of the England team for many years, participating in 3 World Cups in 1998, 2002 and 2006, and 2 EUROs in 2000 and 2004.
In the US, he played for LA Galaxy, starting a trend of world-class players coming to play here. After retiring, in addition to continuing to be an ambassador for UNICEF, he also became the founder, chairman and co-owner of Inter Miami in the US, as well as Salford City (third division in England).
David Beckham's joy at being knighted was doubled when news from Argentina also confirmed that famous player Messi had agreed to sign a contract extension with Inter Miami until the end of 2026 with an option to extend the following year, 2027.

Messi is a player that Mr. David Beckham really loves. He was the one who made the deal to bring Messi to Inter Miami in July 2023, opening a period of great leaps and bounds for the team he founded.
Recently, Mr. David Beckham has encountered many obstacles after it was reported that Messi stopped negotiating a contract extension in May, because he wanted the former English player to have a specific commitment to the team's development project (strengthening the squad) to participate in the Club World Cup (starting on June 15).
According to TNT Sports Argentina: "The positive influence from Mr. David Beckham recently has helped the contract extension negotiations with Messi to resume and are currently progressing well.
Messi and his family are very happy to live in Miami. Messi is also said to be very satisfied with Inter Miami's sports project, after Mr. David Beckham committed that the team will have quality additions to compete for championship titles in the 2025 season and participate in the Club World Cup.

"Inter Miami and MLS (American professional soccer league) are currently finalizing the terms of Messi's new contract, including agreements with the shirt sponsor and with Apple TV. An official announcement about Messi's contract extension is expected to be made around July," TNT Sports Argentina emphasized.
Messi is currently with the Argentina national team in the South American qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup. He played in the second half of the 1-0 win over Chile on June 6. It is expected that the famous player will start the next match against Colombia at home at 7:00 a.m. on June 11.
Messi previously helped Inter Miami win two consecutive MLS matches after a series of draws and losses, rising to third place in the Eastern Conference standings and returning to the championship race. Messi has now scored 15 goals and had 6 assists in 20 matches for Inter Miami in the 2025 season. In MLS, it is 10 goals and 5 assists in 13 matches.
