On August 2, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang answered questions from the press about Vietnam's reaction to information in the report of the National League of Families of Prisoners of War and Missing Persons in Southeast Asia, on humanitarian cooperation activities to search for and account for US soldiers missing in action in the Vietnam War (MIA).
The Foreign Ministry spokesman affirmed that this is distorted and untrue information and Vietnam resolutely opposes it.

According to Ms. Hang, humanitarian cooperation activities to search for and account for US soldiers missing in action during the war in Vietnam have been actively and effectively implemented by the Vietnamese and US governments for over 50 years, helping thousands of US soldiers' remains to be identified and returned to their families.
"This is a very meaningful result, contributing to promoting cooperation in overcoming war consequences between the two countries and is a vivid demonstration of humanitarian spirit, contributing to building and strengthening trust and friendship between Vietnam and the US," the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson informed.
Ms. Hang emphasized that the effectiveness of Vietnam's MIA cooperation has always been recognized and highly appreciated by the US side, and is considered a model in international relations.
According to the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, in the coming time, the two countries will continue to fully cooperate in this field in accordance with the spirit of the Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam-US relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
