DNVN - On September 24, the multinational technology corporation Microsoft announced it will invest $1.3 billion in developing cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) over the next three years in central Mexico.

Speaking at an event in Mexico City, Microsoft President and CEO Satya Nadella said the project aims to improve AI infrastructure, promote digital skills, and expand the use of AI applications in Mexico and Latin America in general. Additionally, the project aims to enhance connectivity, promote AI adoption, and accelerate digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises in Mexico.

Satya Nadella emphasized the crucial role of AI in the new era, contributing to creating opportunities and driving inclusive growth in all sectors, industries, and countries globally, including Mexico. The Microsoft leader affirmed that this investment in Latin America's second-largest economy will help people and organizations there benefit from technological innovation and development.

This marks the second time Microsoft has announced a major investment in Mexico in the past four years. In 2020, the company also announced its "Innovation for Mexico" plan, a total investment of $1.1 billion over five years, focused on developing a mega-cloud data center in the central state of Querétaro. This is Microsoft's first cloud data center in Latin America, officially opening in May 2024, contributing to accelerating digital transformation in the region.
