On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), the Pasaxon newspaper, the official organ of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, published an article affirming that the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 ushered the Vietnamese nation into a new era, an era of national independence linked with socialism. Over the past 80 years, Vietnam has achieved many great and historically significant accomplishments in all fields. This is a testament to the spirit of unity and unwavering will of the entire nation under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Argentina, Jorge Kreyness, emphasized that the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on September 2, 1945, was a historic turning point, not only for Vietnam but for the entire Indochina region.
From that point on, the Vietnamese people have come a long way, leading the country from war to unification, from poverty to development, and advancing towards building socialism. Vietnam has strongly inspired national liberation movements in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, contributing to the formation of the Non-Aligned Movement and strengthening the anti-imperialist stance globally.
Dr. Ruvislei Gonzalez Saez, Vice President of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association, affirmed that Vietnam has achieved extraordinary accomplishments over the past 80 years. Vietnamese leaders have been quick to innovate their thinking and adapt to the times, enabling the country to make a leap forward in socio-economic development. Dr. Saez highly praised the Vietnamese Communist Party's leadership in a series of transformations within the framework of a market economy, while remaining steadfast on the path towards socialism.
Meanwhile, Professor Shimizu at Osaka University (Japan) argues that the August Revolution of 1945 brought great hope and courage to oppressed peoples, not only changing the history of Vietnam but also playing a crucial role in promoting the decolonization movement, becoming one of the turning points in world history.
According to Professor Shimizu, the greatest value left behind by the August Revolution is the spirit of national independence and the aspiration to control one's own destiny. This has been a consistent element throughout Vietnam's nation-building and national defense process from 1945 to the present day.
