As a result, demobilized soldiers have stable and secure jobs, paving the way for self-reliance and career development, confidently building their lives, and contributing to the socio-economic development of their localities.

Strengths from the military environment
Participating in a specialized job fair for demobilized soldiers organized by the Hanoi Employment Service Center in coordination with the Hanoi Capital Command, soldier Le Dinh Nhien, from the Guard and Military Control Battalion (Hanoi Capital Command), was particularly interested in the hairdressing profession.
“I want to choose a profession that suits my interests so that I can have a stable life in the long term. At the job fair, we received quite thorough advice on study duration, tuition support, and job opportunities after training,” shared soldier Le Dinh Nhien.
As for soldier Nguyen Thanh Tung, from the Communications Battalion (Hanoi Capital Command), immediately after his discharge from the army, he was hired at the Viettel Post Hanoi branch. “With the strengths of being trained in the military environment, having a strict sense of discipline, good health, and having a technical college diploma before enlisting, I found a job that matched my aspirations with a salary of over 10 million VND per month.”
Having left the military five years ago, Nguyen Hoang Nam (from Thien Loc commune), with guidance from his unit and vocational training support from the Ministry of National Defense, enrolled in a filmmaking and photography course. Nguyen Hoang Nam said: “After the course, I confidently opened a filmmaking and photography shop three years ago. My shop is always busy, especially during festivals or wedding season, and I have to hire extra staff.”
In reality, previous job fairs specifically for demobilized soldiers mainly recruited unskilled laborers with low salaries. In recent years, many businesses have recruited demobilized soldiers for technical and middle-level management positions with salaries of around 10-15 million VND per month.
Participating in a job fair organized by the Hanoi Employment Service Center and Phuc Thinh commune, Mr. Nguyen Ba Ton, Director of Lam Anh Vietnam Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, said: “The company needs to recruit 30 to 40 skilled workers in the fields of electromechanical engineering, air conditioning, and fire protection, with a salary of 10 to 15 million VND per month. We always prioritize recruiting demobilized soldiers because they are a force with high organizational discipline, good health, and are suitable for the company's working environment.”
Besides civilian businesses, many units of the armed forces are also actively participating in supporting demobilized soldiers. Lieutenant Colonel Vu Ngoc Quang, Director of Viettel Post Hanoi Branch, commented: “Young people trained in the military environment often have discipline, a sense of responsibility, and good teamwork skills. These are qualities that businesses are in great need of.”
Improve coordination effectiveness
Implementing the Coordination Regulations on career counseling, vocational training, and job placement for demobilized soldiers in Hanoi between the Hanoi Capital Command and the Department of Internal Affairs, over the past 10 years (2015-2025), 13 specialized job fairs have been held specifically for demobilized soldiers. These fairs attracted over 500 participating businesses offering nearly 21,000 job openings, training opportunities, and overseas employment prospects. More than 6,000 soldiers received career counseling, and over 2,000 found employment.
Each year, thousands of young people in Hanoi enlist in the military and the People's Public Security Force, and a similar number complete their service and return to their hometowns. To ensure that demobilized soldiers can access labor market information and choose suitable professions and jobs after returning home, maintaining and improving the effectiveness of coordination between the Hanoi Capital Command, the Hanoi Employment Service Center, and local authorities is considered a crucial solution.
Major General Nguyen Dinh Thao, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Hanoi Capital Command, said: “Units with soldiers who have completed their military service and returned to their localities always coordinate with vocational training centers to provide career counseling, job placement assistance, and issue vocational training cards before their discharge. Helping discharged soldiers find stable employment will further motivate young people in Hanoi to confidently go and defend the Fatherland.”
From a professional perspective, Nguyen Tay Nam, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Internal Affairs, commented: "Many businesses highly value the quality of human resources trained in the military because of their discipline, responsibility, and ability to adapt well to the working environment."
Creating jobs for demobilized soldiers not only addresses social welfare issues but also effectively utilizes human resources trained in the military environment, contributing to the development of the capital city. To help demobilized soldiers find suitable jobs and confidently establish themselves and their careers, in addition to organizing specialized job fairs, relevant authorities need to expand high-quality vocational training programs, provide startup loans, and offer career counseling even while soldiers are still serving.
