The People's Committee of Thanh Binh commune, Da Nang city, recently held a ceremony to receive the provincial/city-level ranking certificate for the Bat Cave scenic spot. This event not only marks a turning point in conservation efforts but also opens up opportunities to transform a hidden "green gem" nestled in the forest into an ecotourism destination.

"Memory Station" amidst the midland mountains.

Bat Cave is located in Hamlet 3, Tien An Commune, Tien Phuoc District, former Quang Nam Province, now Thanh Binh Commune. It's an interesting destination for those who enjoy exploring and appreciating the wild, mysterious beauty of nature.

Each season brings its own charm, and the road to this scenic spot is inherently poetic, winding its way through lush orchards, alongside small terraced rice fields and rolling hills.

The Bat Cave is nestled beside a small hill, its exterior covered in vines, seemingly sealing away ancient stories from millions of years ago.

Not as majestic and magnificent as Son Doong Cave or Phong Nha Cave, Bat Cave is like a quiet note in the symphony of nature in the midland region. Streams that have flowed through here for millions of years, along with the natural weathering process, have created its diverse beauty. Every step inside is a touch upon millennia of geological memory.

Bat Cave consists of two branches: the upper cave - Thien Cave - and the lower cave - Nang Tien Cave - with two winding narrow passages leading into them. Nang Tien Cave has a rock arch over 10 meters high, gradually widening as you go inside. The further inside you go, the cooler the temperature becomes due to numerous underground water streams seeping through the cave walls or leaking out through small cracks.

Stepping softly into the cave, one can hear the flapping wings of insects and the rustling of leaves. Occasionally, a few bats will flap their wings and then suddenly fly away, startled.

The hand of nature is truly wondrous; these colossal rocks, in countless shapes and sizes, are stacked and piled up without any particular order. The surfaces of the rocks are also incredibly diverse, with countless different patterns and textures.

Vines cascaded naturally from the cave entrance all the way inside. Sunlight streamed in, like sparkling droplets falling at the entrance, giving the soft moss carpet and the time-worn rock walls a mystical and enchanting beauty.

Next to Fairy Cave is Heaven Cave. This is an upper cave, but its entrance is exposed at the foot of the mountain below. Heaven Cave is notable for its high rock walls, approximately 5-7 meters high, which gradually widen as you go further inside.

These cliffs, rock arches, rock formations, and rocky outcrops are also very strange. Each rock, each layer of sediment, seems to preserve the secret stories of millions of years ago about the ancient world, still echoing in the breath of the mountains and forests.

Vines and tree roots intertwine among the rocks and boulders. This cave has many smaller, interconnected chambers, creating a more open space.

Return to pristine nature.

As a local resident who has spent her entire life in the ancient Tien An area, Mrs. Tran Thi Lieu (68 years old) has many vivid memories of Bat Cave. According to her, this place was once a sacred space, associated with the community's forest worship rituals.

As a child, she and the other children in the village often went to the cave to play and catch fish in the nearby stream, but back then no one thought that Bat Cave was a treasure. It wasn't until recently, when more people started paying attention and visiting, that she truly appreciated the special value of her hometown cave.

The Bat Cave is not a noisy, inviting place. It resembles a quiet memory station nestled amidst the mountains, where humans find traces of life from the dawn of time. In the dim light of the rock arch, the sound of bats flying touches the void like ancient heartbeats, awakening in us a question: how will humanity move forward when the land's memory remains intact in this place? Perhaps the most beautiful answer is to keep this memory station alive, so that the whispers of nature will continue to echo for generations to come.

The designation of this site is only the beginning; what's more important is preserving its pristine, mysterious beauty. Every step a visitor takes here should not only be a journey of discovery and appreciation of natural beauty, but also a homecoming: a return to unspoiled nature, to the memories of the rocks, and to the very aspiration of preserving a green future for their homeland.
