Previously, Thanh Hoa's culture was primarily present within the confines of festivals, historical sites, and traditional community activities. However, in recent years, many cultural values have begun to move beyond the "conservation zone," directly participating in socio -economic life through innovative approaches. From historical sites and scenic spots to traditional festivals, folk performances, traditional crafts, and the rich culinary heritage of Thanh Hoa, each value carries its own unique story, captivating and deeply moving for the local people.
Sam Son beach area is affirming its potential and direction towards a cultural industry. Along with its beautiful beach and a fairly comprehensive and modern infrastructure and service system, many festivals and cultural tourism events are being renewed to enhance the visitor experience. Typical examples include: the beach tourism festival, street art programs, pedestrian zones, beach squares, folk performances, culinary cultural spaces, and souvenir products representing Sam Son... This forms the foundation for the development of cultural industry products associated with the beach area.
In the western mountainous region of the province, the indigenous cultural values of the Thai and Muong ethnic groups reflect another facet of the cultural industry. The stilt houses of the Thai and Muong people, the terraced rice fields, the traditional folk songs, the sounds of gongs and drums, and the traditional cuisine have become highlights attracting domestic and international tourists. At community-based tourism destinations, many participating households have transformed their living spaces and daily cultural practices into unique tourism products, simultaneously preserving culture and creating local livelihoods.
A unique piece in Thanh Hoa's cultural and industrial landscape is its traditional craft villages, which preserve the essence of handicrafts passed down through generations and are gradually seeking to "renew" themselves. Facing the trend of industrialization and digital transformation, many craft villages, such as those specializing in Tra Dong bronze casting, rattan and bamboo weaving, and fish sauce production, have begun to change their mindset and designs, harmonizing traditional elements with market demands. They are developing product showcases combined with tourism, bringing their products to e-commerce platforms, and promoting them on digital platforms. Although not yet large in scale, these are signs that a cultural and industrial mindset is gradually taking shape in practice.
Along with that, the development of technology and social media has opened up new approaches to promoting Thanh Hoa's culture. Several organizations and localities have begun applying technology to cultural promotion and digitizing historical sites. Many young people and content creators have chosen local heritage, festivals, and cuisine as material to tell stories through images and short videos, contributing to spreading the beauty of the culture to a wider community.
Developing the cultural industry is not just a trend, but a necessary direction for Thanh Hoa's culture to become a resource for sustainable and harmonious development. To develop the cultural industry in Thanh Hoa, the requirements for the future include changing mindsets, broadening vision, building clearer strategies, selecting priority areas for targeted investment, aligning with the advantages of each region, and promoting the image and people of Thanh Hoa. In this process, the State plays a guiding and facilitating role; businesses are the investment force and production organizers; the community and key cultural entities are the "soul" of the creative process; technology is a supporting tool; and cultural values are the irreplaceable foundation. Only then will the cultural industry become a highlight, contributing to Thanh Hoa's faster and more sustainable development in the new era.
