The greatest gift

The value of a gift lies not only in its material worth, in the act of sharing and warming the hearts of the underprivileged, but also in fostering community cohesion.

The entire nation is celebrating Independence Day. Along with vibrant flags and flowers adorning the streets, and the inauguration of public infrastructure projects, this year's National Day is also marked by a simple yet heartfelt decision – each citizen will receive 100,000 VND to "celebrate Independence Day with the whole nation." The value of this gift lies not only in its material worth and the act of sharing, warming the hearts of the underprivileged, but also in its ability to foster community cohesion.

In recent days, across all forums, from social media to real life, from offices to workers' dormitories, in neighborhoods and suburbs, everywhere is buzzing with stories about "hundreds of thousands" going towards meals, milk for children, school supplies, and compasses for the start of the school year. 100,000 dong will be given to the right people, at the right time, with simple procedures, close to a major national holiday, so that everyone can share in the joy.

Along with gifts from the central government, in localities, public works projects such as canal renovations, green spaces additions, smoothly operating public administrative service centers, the inauguration of a new, spacious primary school, and scholarships to welcome students for the new school year have been implemented. In Ho Chi Minh City alone, nine major projects and works were started or inaugurated to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd.

Of particular note are the dredging and environmental improvement project on the northern bank of the Doi Canal and the social housing project at 4 Phan Chu Trinh Street, Binh Thanh Ward. These are actions that "immediately improve" the quality of life, making it cleaner, better to live in, and more convenient for transportation. Prior to this, the city also simultaneously commenced and inaugurated 250 projects to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day. These projects ranged from urban infrastructure and environmental projects to cultural institutions.

Simultaneously, infrastructure projects, environmental projects, and social housing projects were inaugurated or commenced during the holiday, demonstrating a more sustainable social infrastructure and a "two-tiered" approach to welfare: providing direct support that people can feel immediately, while also investing in a foundation for sustainable welfare. These silent "building blocks" are multiplying and accumulating into tangible benefits for the community, especially the vulnerable. Each item, however small, is a tangible benefit, helping people travel more conveniently, providing a cleaner environment, expediting procedures, and making children happier at school... these "gifts" are more practical and sustainable than any mere wishes.

It is also the warmth of Independence Day, the warmth of practical care today, and the warmth of the commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in the nation's development process. Caring for social welfare is a top priority. This year's National Day gift is not only material support, but also the presence of the Party and State in every home, every meal, every dream of going to school. It is also a message that in the journey of development, the Party and State always stand alongside the people.

Returning to the "hundred thousand dong" gift sent to the entire population, although this is not a large sum of money, it marks a new milestone in social welfare payments, established by increasingly linking payments to VNeID electronic identification accounts. This ensures that support reaches people directly, guaranteeing transparency, reducing inconvenience, and eliminating the long queues for signatures as before. In the long term, this is an important foundation for the formation of a digital social welfare infrastructure, so that when emergency support is needed in cases of natural disasters or epidemics, this digital social welfare system can "run" immediately, quickly, and to the right address.

Looking back over the past 80 years, the aspiration for independence and happiness has never ceased to flow. Every financial assistance, a new home, a scholarship for students, or simply a free art performance at public centers... - these gifts, whether small or large, all carry a common message: The State does not forget the people, society is grateful and stands with the people, clearly demonstrating the promise: Independence must go hand in hand with the happiness of the people.

And this year's Independence Day, as tens of millions of people receive such warm care, no one will forget the most precious gift: living in peace , in a country that is constantly innovating and developing sustainably. This gift, shared between the Party and the people, empowers the entire nation to confidently move forward on the path to realizing the aspiration of a strong and happy Vietnam.
