
Amazon's investment will focus on expanding cloud infrastructure through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, building data centers, enhancing AI capabilities, and training digital human resources.
The corporation stated that, upon completion, the projects could contribute more than $64 billion to the GDP of the four countries, while creating approximately 56,300 full-time jobs annually in the data center and technology supply chain. Additionally, Amazon is promoting renewable energy and water reuse projects for its data centers in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia to meet its net-zero emissions target by 2040.
According to Amazon, the digital economy of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is expected to reach $560 billion by 2030, and ASEAN could become the world's fourth-largest economy in the coming decades. The rapid growth of e-commerce, digital data, and the demand for AI applications is driving global technology corporations to increase investment in the region.
