In response to parents' concerns about the 10th grade entrance exam with a "secret" third subject announced close to the exam date, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long recently directed the Ministry of Education and Training to carefully review and consider the regulations on the announcement time for the early 10th grade entrance exam plan.

This is information that many parents like me are looking forward to.

I have no time for entertainment or sports.

I have a child studying in grade 9 at a public school in Hanoi . Next year, he will take the exam to enter grade 10.

Even though I am used to my children studying and the pressure of exams, especially the transfer exams, every day when I see my children studying, sometimes I wonder how effective their studying will be?!

Like this year, my child officially attends school in the morning from Monday to Saturday. He usually wakes up early, then has breakfast and goes to school at 7am.

The class ended at 11:45. I got home at 12:00. After lunch, I took a 30-minute break.

Because the Ministry of Education and Training has not announced the third exam subject, in addition to the three subjects of literature, math, and English, my child will now have three additional subjects of physics, chemistry, and biology at school in the afternoon.

I go to school from 1:50 p.m. to 5 p.m. There are four afternoons like that each week.

In the evening, right after dinner, at 7pm, I sit down to do homework and prepare for the next day... At the end of the day, I usually go to bed after 11pm.

I am really worried. Because my child has almost no time for entertainment or sports. Even his hobby of listening to music, he has to take advantage of it during dinner or some time on Sunday.

Access to news information on television every evening is almost very little. Even though this has been a habit of my family for many years.

My child has not yet taken extra classes outside, but mainly studies at home and in class. So the fact that students do not have time to rest, entertain, play sports, do housework... is not only my child but almost all students in grade 9 are like that.

This school year, for 9th grade students, parents like me just hope that our children will always be healthy and mentally comfortable to study and take the 10th grade entrance exam.

Heart attack waiting for the third exam

Perhaps I, like millions of parents whose children are in grade 9 across the country, especially those in crowded urban areas like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang... are "heartbroken" waiting for their children's third exam to enter grade 10.

As I follow, the exam regulations, especially the third exam subject for students entering grade 10, is one of the contents that many people are interested in.

Most parents agree with the three-subject exam plan, but are worried about the announcement of the third subject.

I have been closely following the third subject of the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi for the past two school years. Like last year, Hanoi had English as the third subject.

It is very likely that this year, the third exam for grade 10 will not overlap with last year.

However, foreign languages are extremely necessary for children's future job skills. Therefore, my child and many other children are still focusing on learning English, not studying for the 10th grade entrance exam.

So what will be the third subject for the 10th grade entrance exam this year in Hanoi and when will it be announced?

I am sure that parents whose children are studying in grade 9 in Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Tho, Can Tho... also have the same concern as me: what is the third subject for grade 10 in the area and when will it be announced?

Therefore, I, as well as millions of parents whose children are taking the 10th grade entrance exam this year, urgently request the Ministry of Education and Training to carefully study and absorb public opinions to perfect the regulations for the 10th grade entrance exam.

In which, consider the time to announce the exam plan early, creating favorable conditions for students and schools in reviewing as directed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long.
