Located in the middle of a deep valley, surrounded by vast hills, the spacious traditional stilt houses with bright red tiles of the Nung An people (Nung ethnic group) in Quang Hoa village (Tam Dien hamlet, Ea Tam commune, Krong Nang district ( Dak Lak province) are the clearest evidence of a prosperous and comfortable life.
"Barefoot Millionaire Village"
In the late 80s of the last century, the Nung An ethnic people from Quang Hoa district, Cao Bang province came to Quang Hoa village to settle down.
At that time, the forests and mountains were wild and dense, the roads were difficult to travel, and life was lacking in every way. Diligent and industrious, the Nung An people began to learn how to grow coffee.
In 1991, the first coffee crop was harvested. Realizing that the land and soil here were suitable for this crop, people gradually expanded the area.
At the same time, macadamia trees and some fruit trees were intercropped in the coffee garden. Thanks to that, after more than 30 years of establishing a business on the new land, people were well-off, and every household in Quang Hoa village was visibly prosperous.

In a spacious, well-furnished stilt house with original Nung An architecture, Mr. Nong Van Minh (born in 1970) happily said that in this village, the lowest income household is about 200 million VND, the rest is 400 - 500 million VND/year. Each household has 2 - 3 hectares of industrial crops intercropped with fruit trees.
This land has a climate and soil suitable for many valuable crops, just work hard and you will be rich. Every family now has full amenities no less than city dwellers.
It is no exaggeration to say that Mr. Minh's family has 2 hectares of coffee. Four years ago, he intercropped avocado, durian, and macadamia, and now they have all been harvested. This year's coffee crop, his family harvested nearly 8 tons of coffee beans, equivalent to about 250 million VND.
Or like Mr. Hoang Dinh Tan and his wife, his parents gave them 4 hectares of coffee, intercropped with pepper, avocado, durian and macadamia. After that, they bought 2.5 hectares of land to grow rubber, and built 6 more fields. On average, his family earns 600 - 700 million VND per year. 3 years ago, he "bought" a car worth nearly 1 billion VND. Recently, they built a house worth nearly 2 billion VND...
Keep your own identity
Not only taking care of family economic development, the people of Quang Hoa village also strive to preserve the traditional culture of the nation.
Although they have lived far from home for a long time, the Nung An people still preserve their traditional stilt houses with original 4-roof architecture, traditional costumes, indigo weaving and spiritual and cultural activities...

Tam Dien village has 113 households and 525 people divided into two villages, Quang Hoa, 100% Nung An, and Coc Xoai, all Tay.
Quang Hoa village alone has 57 households, 270 people, each family earns several hundred million VND/year, more than enough to build a modern, spacious house, but every family wants to live in a traditional stilt house.
For young men who are about to get married, their families will build a stilt house for them to live in. All of them are built by the villagers according to the traditional stilt house architecture of the Nung An people. The stilt house has 30-56 pillars, a staircase leading up, an indoor kitchen and an ancestral altar placed in the middle of the house.
The people here consider stilt houses as priceless "assets". "The Nung An people were born in stilt houses, and have been attached to the stilt house tradition all their lives, so no matter where they are or what they do, they must build a house like that for their family.
Only then will the family tradition and culture of the Nung An people not disappear," said Mr. Nong Van Loong (born in 1952) - a village elder proudly.
Ea Tam commune has 19 ethnic groups living together, mainly ethnic groups from the North, of which Tay - Nung people account for nearly 90% of the population. Over the past 30 years of establishment, the commune has always focused on socio-economic development along with preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Tam Commune Be Thuy Trang said that for the people of Quang Hoa village, when the economy developed, people voluntarily contributed money and labor to build new rural areas. The people of Quang Hoa village contributed about 700 million VND and hundreds of working days to build rural roads.
"Quang Hoa village is now a unique cultural space for the locality to develop village tourism", Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Tam La commune (Krong Nang district, Dak Lak province) - Be Thuy Trang.
