MU confirms the future of Mainoo and Zirkzee

Coach Ruben Amorim confirmed that MU will not let Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee leave in the January transfer window, despite the duo not playing much at Old Trafford.

Amorim did not let Mainoo and Zirkzee go.

"Rumors are normal. At Manchester United, everything is easily exaggerated. Players who don't get to play much want to play, especially when the World Cup is approaching. But the team needs everyone to have a successful season," said coach Amorim.

Zirkzee has only played 82 minutes in four games. With Amorim prioritizing Benjamin Sesko - who has scored two goals in four starts - and Mason Mount adapting well to the "false nine" role, Zirkzee has been temporarily sidelined.

However, the coaching staff still appreciates his ability to connect and handle the ball delicately, especially when playing deep as a "number 10". Zirkzee has aspirations to attend the 2026 World Cup, but for now, he needs to be patient and wait for his opportunity at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Mainoo has been a star product of the MU academy for many years. He played an important role for both England and MU last season. However, Amorim has not let him start in the Premier Leagues. The Portuguese strategist believes that Mainoo needs to improve his skills to be able to play alongside Bruno Fernandes instead of competing directly.

If the situation does not improve, Mainoo may be forced to consider leaving on loan in January, especially when coach Thomas Tuchel only calls up players who play regularly. Currently, the "Three Lions" midfield is fiercely competing with names such as Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Jordan Henderson or Adam Wharton.
