MU reaches agreement to sign Benjamin Sesko

Benjamin Sesko is Manchester United's fourth signing this summer.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United will pay RB Leipzig €76.5 million plus €8.5 million in performance-related bonuses for the Slovenian striker at his new club. Sesko will travel to Manchester for a medical examination before signing his contract with Manchester United. He is the fourth signing this summer for manager Ruben Amorim.

Sesko's arrival will raise Manchester United's total spending to £214 million, following the signings of Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, and Bryan Mbeumo. Sesko will be an integral part of Amorim's attacking trio, alongside Cunha and Mbeumo, as United aim to improve their goalscoring record. In the 2024/2025 Premier League season, the Manchester club has a very modest goalscoring record, with 44 goals in 38 matches.

The Athletic describes the 22-year-old Slovenian striker as the biggest, roughest, and brightest diamond currently playing in Europe's top five leagues.

The summer of 2025 marks the third time Man United have shown interest in him. The first was in 2019 when he emerged in the NK Domzale first team at the age of 16, the next was in the 2022/2023 season, when the Slovenian striker scored 16 goals in 30 games for Red Bull Salzburg.

The Athletic suggests that Sesko is a powerful striker with impressive speed and sharp finishing ability. He is the type of striker that central defenders dread facing. Sesko has the potential to reach the level of superstar Erling Haaland.

Man United are still looking for a central midfielder, but selling players will be crucial after their massive spending. The arrival of Sesko will make Højlund's future uncertain. Man United are willing to sell or loan out the striker. The Red Devils are still in the process of clearing out their squad, trying to sell Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia.
