Vietnamese fighter Huynh Van Tuan will debut in a mixed martial arts (MMA) event called ONE Lumpinee, also known as ONE Friday Fights by One Championship, this weekend.
Huynh Van Tuan, born in 1999, has won two gold medals in kickboxing at the 2019 and 2021 SEA Games, as well as the 2024 Asian Kickboxing Championship title.
In addition, Van Tuan won the Muay Thai Grand Prix 2022 and finished as runner-up in the Road To ONE qualifying tournament in Vietnam.
The 25-year-old fighter's name has been established. Having started his martial arts career in 2014, Huynh Van Tuan quickly demonstrated his talent and relentless effort. He shone in domestic tournaments and international competitions.
Making his debut in ONE, Huynh Van Tuan faced an immense challenge. The Vietnamese fighter's opponent was the legendary Chokpreecha, a veteran who had won the Lumpinee championship belt with over 100 fights.
Chokpreecha trains at PK Saenchai Muaythaigym - one of the world's most prestigious Muay Thai training gyms, owned by "living legend" Saenchai.
ONE Championship chose a "tough opponent" like Chokpreecha to "test" the true capabilities of Huynh Van Tuan. This is an opportunity for the Vietnamese fighter to rise to fame. Huynh Van Tuan's coaching staff is preparing everything for an impressive debut.
The ONE Lumpinee event will take place at 8:30 PM Bangkok time. Nine matches will be held sequentially, with Van Tuan being the only representative from Vietnam participating. He will fight the fifth match.
