From June 1st, unleaded gasoline will be blended into E10 bioethanol for use in gasoline engines nationwide, according to a roadmap issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with gasoline consumption at approximately 1 million m³ per month, the amount of ethanol needed for blending E10 is around 100,000 m³/month, and the current supply is basically being met by businesses. The three major companies, Petrolimex , PVOil, and Saigon Petro, currently have a combined blending capacity of approximately 890,000 m³/month, sufficient to meet market demand.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that most cars and motorcycles currently in circulation in Vietnam can use E10 gasoline, while E5 RON92 gasoline will continue to be sold until the end of 2030 to suit older vehicles. The deployment of E10 gasoline is expected to contribute to reducing emissions, promoting the use of biofuels, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and ensuring national energy security.
