'Red Rain' sets new record.

As of the evening of September 3rd, director Dang Thai Huyen's film "Red Rain" had grossed over 458 billion VND. This achievement allowed the film to surpass Tran Thanh's "The Four Leopards" (332 billion VND) and become the highest-grossing Vietnamese film of 2025 (to date).

In addition, Dang Thai Huyen also became the first Vietnamese female director to have a film reach the 400 billion VND box office milestone.

The appeal of "Red Rain" has not diminished after more than 10 days in theaters. Previously, the film grossed 55 billion VND on September 1st, becoming the highest-grossing Vietnamese film on its opening day, surpassing Tran Thanh's " Mai" (43.9 billion VND).

"Red Rain," inspired by the 81-day and 81-night battle to defend the Quang Tri Citadel , is a film produced by the People's Army Film Studio, belonging to the war-revolution genre. The film features a cast including: Do Nhat Hoang, Le Ha Anh, Steven Nguyen, Phuong Nam, Le Hoang Long, Lam Thanh Nha… According to director Dang Thai Huyen, "Red Rain" is like a respectful tribute, a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the generations of fathers and brothers who fell for the independence and freedom of the country.

According to Box Office Vietnam, "Red Rain" had a fairly high occupancy rate, reaching over 68.33%. The agency reported that theaters in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City experienced a "sold out" phenomenon, indicating the level of audience interest in the film.

Besides "Red Rain ," at the Vietnamese box office, "Making Money with Ghosts: The Diamond War" is currently in second place, raking in over 48 billion VND after nearly a week of release. Despite facing strong competition, the project starring Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh still achieved good results, with a weekend revenue of over 19 billion VND.
