On the morning of May 31st, at Van Lang Park (An Dong Ward), the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Union, and the Vietnam Student Union organized a ceremony to launch the 2026 summer volunteer programs and campaigns, and to respond to the "Summer Fun in Ho Chi Minh City" Action Month for Children.
Attending the program were: Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association; Mr. Dang Minh Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, along with more than 5,000 youth union members and young people from the city.

A new feature in this year's summer volunteer activities is the collaboration between the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and the Department of Science and Technology to implement the "Digital Summer" model. To date, there are 479 youth volunteer teams participating in the "Digital Summer" program, with nearly 8,200 volunteers.
This contributes to promoting digital transformation in volunteer activities. After the launching ceremony, youth volunteer teams worked together to support digital transformation in their localities, organized "Digital Touchpoint" events, provided training on artificial intelligence (AI) applications, assisted in carrying out administrative procedures in the digital environment, and popularized digital skills for the people...
In response to the launch ceremony, the city's youth also simultaneously implemented many practical activities throughout the area, such as launching the "Fun Summer in the New City" campaign, organizing playgrounds, skills training classes, promoting swimming, awarding scholarships, caring for children, implementing social welfare projects, admitting new Youth Union and Party members, and carrying out volunteer activities at the grassroots level.

Adapt flexibly to new requirements.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Ngo Minh Hai - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union - said that over the past third of a century, with the spirit of going to the mountains and the sea, the city's youth have embarked on summer volunteer programs, sharing, contributing, and growing, from literacy classes to practical projects in remote areas.
Since then, the city's youth volunteer movement has continuously grown stronger, building familiar volunteer brands every summer: Green Summer, Pink Holiday, Red Phoenix Flower, Supporting Students During Exams, Green March, and Green Shirt Tutors.
Mr. Hai also emphasized the unique aspect of the volunteer work method: nearly a year ago, in the early days of implementing the Party and State's policy on administrative unit restructuring and the two-tiered local government model, the city's youth embarked on a special summer: the digital summer – adapting, connecting, and accompanying the city in the new development space. In that context, the city's summer volunteer programs and campaigns were not only maintained but also expanded in terms of geographical area, personnel, and resources.
"It was from that special summer that the city's youth volunteer movement continued to demonstrate its enduring vitality and flexible adaptability to new demands: becoming an effective method for the Youth Union to gather young people and contribute to bringing the major policies of the Party and State into life through specific projects and tasks," affirmed Ngo Minh Hai.
Continuing that tradition, the city's youth summer volunteer programs and campaigns will continue to promote the pioneering, proactive, and volunteer spirit of students in participating in political tasks.

Emphasizing that the Politburo issued Resolution No. 09 on May 19th regarding the construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City in the new era, Mr. Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, stated that the city is facing new opportunities with very high demands on innovation in growth models, modern urban governance, digital transformation, and international integration. In this journey, young people must be the pioneering and leading force, carrying the aspiration to build Ho Chi Minh City into a civilized, creative, modern, compassionate city with global competitiveness.
The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee highly appreciated the collaboration between the Department of Science and Technology and the City Youth Union in implementing the "Digital Summer" model - an activity that closely aligns with the spirit of Resolution 09.
He also hoped that each volunteer soldier would continue to uphold the pioneering spirit of the youth of the city named after the beloved President Ho Chi Minh, approaching the people with sincerity, responsibility, and a spirit of dedicated service in every project and task.
