Heavy rain in Gia Lai, Dak Lak , Khanh Hoa - Risk of flash floods and landslides still exists
In the past 6 hours, from 1am to 7am on December 10, many areas in Gia Lai , Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces continued to record rain, some places reaching moderate to heavy rain. Some places with high rainfall include Hamlet 10, Ea M'Doal commune (Dak Lak) 52mm; Phu Cat (Gia Lai) 56.7mm; Cam Ranh lake basin (Khanh Hoa) 34.6mm. Soil moisture models show that many areas in these provinces are approaching the saturation threshold, even reaching a state of saturation of over 80%.

In the next 3-6 hours, the above area will continue to have rain with a common accumulated rainfall of 10-40mm, in some places exceeding 70mm. The risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, along with landslides in many communes and wards in the area is warned at a high level. The level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides and land subsidence is determined at level 1.
Flash floods and landslides can have serious impacts on the environment and life, threaten people's lives, disrupt local traffic, damage civil and economic works and greatly affect production activities. Local authorities are advised to urgently review flow bottlenecks and vulnerable locations to proactively take preventive and response measures.
Heavy rain in Hue city and South Central Coast provinces
Last night and this morning (December 10), Hue City, Da Nang City, the eastern part of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa had moderate rain, locally heavy to very heavy rain. The rainfall recorded from 7:00 p.m. on December 9 to 8:00 a.m. on December 10 exceeded 50mm in some places, of which Ho My Thuan station (Gia Lai) reached 99.4mm, Vung Ro port station (Dak Lak) 94mm, Tay Khanh Vinh station (Khanh Hoa) 55.4mm.
From morning to night of December 10, Hue city and the South Central Coast region will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, with total rainfall of 30-70mm, locally exceeding 150mm. Warning of the possibility of heavy rain of over 100mm in 3 hours. During the same period, the Central Highlands region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with total rainfall of 10-30mm, in some places over 70mm. The Southern region from December 10-11 will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall of 20-50mm, locally heavy rain over 100mm.
From December 11, heavy rains in Hue City and the South Central Coast provinces are forecast to decrease. The risk level of natural disasters due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and hail is at level 1.
Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas and industrial zones; there is also a risk of flash floods in small rivers and streams and landslides in steep hills.
