Heavy rain from Hue to Khanh Hoa, risk of flash floods and landslides.

Many localities from Hue to Khanh Hoa and the Central Highlands continue to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, saturating the soil and increasing the risk of flash floods, landslides, and inundation in the coming hours.

Heavy rains in Gia Lai, Dak Lak , and Khanh Hoa - The risk of flash floods and landslides remains.

Over the past 6 hours, from 1 AM to 7 AM on December 10th, many areas in Gia Lai , Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa provinces continued to experience rain, with some places experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall. Some locations with high rainfall amounts include Hamlet 10, Ea M'Doal commune (Dak Lak) with 52mm; Phu Cat (Gia Lai) with 56.7mm; and the Cam Ranh reservoir basin (Khanh Hoa) with 34.6mm. Soil moisture models indicate that many areas in these provinces are approaching saturation, with some even reaching saturation levels above 80%.

Over the next 3-6 hours, the area will continue to experience rain with accumulated rainfall generally ranging from 10-40mm, exceeding 70mm in some places. The risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, along with landslides in many communes and wards in the area, is warned at a high level. The level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence is determined to be level 1.

Flash floods and landslides can have serious impacts on the environment and livelihoods, threatening people's lives, disrupting local transportation, damaging socio- economic infrastructure, and significantly affecting production activities. Local authorities are advised to urgently review bottlenecks in water flow and vulnerable locations to proactively implement preventive and response measures.

Heavy rain in Hue City and the South Central Coastal provinces.

Last night and this morning (December 10th), Hue City, Da Nang City, and the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, with localized heavy to very heavy rain. Rainfall recorded from 7 PM on December 9th to 8 AM on December 10th exceeded 50mm in some areas, including 99.4mm at Ho My Thuan station (Gia Lai), 94mm at Vung Ro port station (Dak Lak), and 55.4mm at Tay Khanh Vinh station (Khanh Hoa).

From morning to night on December 10th, Hue City and the South Central coastal region will continue to experience moderate to heavy rain, with total rainfall generally ranging from 30-70mm, and locally exceeding 150mm. A warning has been issued for the possibility of heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm in 3 hours. During the same period, the Central Highlands will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms with total rainfall of 10-30mm, and over 70mm in some areas. The Southern region will have scattered rain, moderate rain, and thunderstorms from December 10th to 11th, with rainfall ranging from 20-50mm, and locally exceeding 100mm.

From December 11th, heavy rainfall in Hue City and the South Central coastal provinces is forecast to decrease. The risk level for natural disasters due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and hail is at level 1.

Heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, and industrial zones; and also pose a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides in hilly areas.
