US technology company Nvidia said that the US government has imposed restrictions on the export of some artificial intelligence (AI) chips to some countries in the Middle East.
In a recently released document, Nvidia stated that the US government has notified the company of additional licensing requirements for A100 and H100 chip products with destinations being a number of regions, including some countries in the Middle East.
Nvidia is one of the world's leading suppliers of AI chips. In September 2022, Nvidia said that US authorities had asked the company to stop exporting the two types of computer chips used for AI development to China.
A few months later, Nvidia announced that it would offer a new advanced chip called the A800 in China to comply with export control rules. Nvidia also tweaked its flagship H100 chip earlier this year to comply with the regulations.
