In a statement on Monday (June 1), Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its Air Force targeted and destroyed an air base used by the US military to launch an attack on a telecommunications tower on Sirik Island in Hormozgan province, southern Iran.
"Following the attack by the US military a few hours ago on a communications tower on Sirik Island, soldiers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Air Force attacked the air base from which the attack originated and destroyed the predetermined targets," the statement said.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Air Force also issued a stern warning, emphasizing that any military action against Tehran would be met with an even stronger response.
"The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Air Force warns that if this act of aggression is repeated, the response will be completely different, and the aggressor will be held responsible for the consequences," the statement said.
These developments occurred after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced it had conducted what it described as "self-defense" airstrikes targeting Iranian command and control facilities, radar stations, and drone sites in the city of Goruk and on Qeshm Island over the weekend.
According to CENTCOM, the attacks were carried out in response to what Washington called Tehran's acts of aggression, including Iran shooting down a US MQ-1 Predator drone operating in international waters.
Earlier, the IRGC said its air defense units detected and shot down an MQ-1 Predator drone after it entered Iranian airspace over the Persian Gulf in the early hours of May 31.
According to Tehran's statement, the MQ-1 was tracked, intercepted, and destroyed shortly after entering Iranian airspace. The incident further escalates tensions between the two sides amid increasingly complex military developments in the Persian Gulf region.
