The US Department of Defense said $300 million will be provided from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, under which the US will purchase weapons from defense businesses to transfer to Ukraine.
The money will be used to buy laser-guided munitions to counter drones, according to the Pentagon.
The remaining $125 million in the aid package was drawn directly from US stocks, including more than 3 million rounds of handgun ammunition and grenades, 12 trucks, winter gear, engineering equipment, interceptor missiles for missile and rocket defense systems, and 155mm and 105mm artillery shells.
The Pentagon's announcement comes as Ukraine continues to fight in the southeast but faces significant obstacles as it encounters Russian defenses.
Winter is expected to slow the conflict, but Ukraine is expected to continue its offensive.
The US is running out of money to send to Ukraine, as Congress stalls on a new aid package.
The Pentagon said on November 3 that it "continues to call on Congress to fulfill its commitment to the people of Ukraine by approving additional funding to ensure Ukraine has what it needs to defend itself."
The Republican-controlled House this week approved only aid to Israel, while the Senate is bipartisan in its support for additional aid to Ukraine.
The Biden administration can still use about $5 billion under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) mechanism to aid Ukraine without going through Congress.
