In Ho Chi Minh City, rain occurred in the Go Vap area and the former District 12. In Southern Vietnam, thunderstorms appeared in coastal areas of An Giang province.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall amounts of 10-20mm are expected in the southern part of the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam this evening (May 2nd), with some areas experiencing heavy rain exceeding 50mm.
Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong winds can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, transportation infrastructure, and other facilities.
Localized heavy rainfall is likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas.
The natural disaster risk warning for tornadoes, lightning, and hailstorms is level 1.
Although it rained in the late afternoon and evening, sunny and hot weather persisted in many areas during the day, making it quite humid. According to the meteorological agency, this is the transitional season in Southern Vietnam.
