The 2025 "Best Ship" Competition and Training Exercise for the Permanent Militia Naval Squadrons was recently held in four regions: Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, and An Giang, with the participation of ships from the Permanent Militia Naval Squadrons of Military Regions 4, 5, 7, and 9. Following the opening ceremony and competition in Da Nang, the organizing committee and judging panel moved to the locations to hold the final competition and closing ceremony in Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang province.

Permanent militia officers and soldiers take the theoretical part of the specialized subject test.

The permanent militia vessels review their duties before heading out to sea to participate in the competition.
The officers and soldiers performed the tasks of preparing the ships for sea voyages quickly and accurately.

At the ship's best performance competition, officers and soldiers performed in the following areas: overall ship performance, electrical and mechanical systems, weapons, and electronic equipment. Captain Vo Quy Ha of the BV 98308 TS vessel stated: “The officers and soldiers of the permanent militia on board have done a good job preparing and reviewing specialized political content, ship regulations, and other specialized topics. We focused on studying, learning, operating, and maintaining the equipment, machinery, and weapons according to regulations. Regarding maintenance and painting, the officers and soldiers on board focused on painting and repairing during their days off and breaks.”

Participating in the training competition for permanent militia officers and soldiers, the competition covered 12 areas, focusing on: political awareness, combat readiness, training planning, tactics, ship regulations, militia and self-defense forces, navigation, weapons, electromechanics, and logistics-technical work.

During the competition at the dock and while handling situations at sea, some officers and soldiers revealed existing weaknesses. This was an opportunity for the permanent militia officers and soldiers to learn more. Comrade Nguyen Van An, a soldier on the KG 96022 TS vessel, recounted: “During the competition, I encountered difficulties such as weather and working hours, but with the support of the commanders, I tried my best to overcome them. I gained a lot of experience, familiarized myself with the equipment, and successfully completed the assigned tasks.”

During the competition, the judging panel pointed out existing weaknesses so that the militia members could continue to study and improve. Due to the short training time and the lack of effective training, Chief Engineer Doan Tuan Anh of the BV 98308 TS vessel only had basic knowledge of operating the ship's engine and had limited understanding of the equipment used. Doan Tuan Anh shared: "Through this competition, I realize that I still have many shortcomings, and I will try to learn more, understand more, and strive to serve better and perform my duties even better."

Overcoming the difficulties encountered, the permanent militia officers and soldiers demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility, strictly adhering to the operational plan, schedule, regulations, and rules. The content of the theoretical questions and practical procedures were carried out in the correct sequence.

According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, the participating agencies and units did a good job of preparation; they coordinated closely and organized the competitions and sports events according to plan, ensuring absolute safety for personnel and weapons and technical equipment. The determination to compete and the eagerness to learn shown by the permanent militia officers and soldiers were commendable at this competition and sports event.
