According to information from Chinese rumor expert Instant Digital, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a 5,000 mAh battery, about 324 mAh more than the previous generation.
In March, AppleInsider , citing an insider source, reported that the iPhone 17 Pro Max's body thickness would increase to 8.725 mm, compared to 8.25 mm on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The site then predicted that this would allow the device to have a larger battery of about 400 mAh.
Even if the latest numbers announced by Instant Digital and previous rumors about the physical size are correct, that doesn't mean the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have longer battery life.
AppleInsider says that depends on the rest of the iPhone 17 Pro Max design. The device is expected to include new technology that won't impact the battery, such as vapor chamber cooling. The big question is whether Apple can optimize the software and hardware to ensure that the increased battery capacity actually translates into longer battery life.
