According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province has currently harvested over 14,000 out of 22,626 hectares of summer rice, reaching approximately 62% of the total planted area for the summer crop, with an estimated average yield of 53.1 quintals/hectare.

The yield for the main crop is estimated at 53.1 quintals/hectare.

Farmers in Do Xuyen commune, Thanh Ba district, are preparing the land for planting winter vegetables.

Besides rice, nearly 3,600 out of 4,612 hectares of summer-autumn corn have been harvested, reaching 77% of the planted area, with an estimated yield of 49.1 quintals/hectare. 3,930 out of 4,334 hectares of various vegetables have been harvested, reaching 90.7% of the planted area, with an estimated yield of 153.8 quintals/hectare.

Along with focusing on harvesting the main crop, farmers are also accelerating the restoration of production after natural disasters and planting the winter crop to take advantage of the sunny days of the year. To date, nearly 1,700 out of 7,070 hectares of corn have been planted; and about 1,100 out of 5,788 hectares of various green vegetables have been planted.

To ensure high yields in the winter crop season and minimize abandoned fields and crop failures, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has requested the People's Committees of districts, cities, and towns to direct localities to mobilize maximum manpower and machinery to promptly harvest the summer rice crop in a timely manner to free up land. They are also to continue directing and guiding farmers to accelerate the planting of winter crops; encourage farmers to diversify vegetable crops, focusing on developing those with local advantages; and continue building supply chains and expanding market access.

For areas where winter corn has already been planted, farmers are advised to take advantage of the warm weather at the beginning of the season to focus on caring for the plants from the start, creating favorable conditions for good growth and development; and to strengthen field inspections to promptly detect and take appropriate measures.

In addition, it is necessary to closely monitor the weather situation and proactively implement drainage plans in case of heavy or prolonged rainfall to protect production results.
