The atmosphere in the countryside of Le Thuy ( Quang Binh province ) is bustling and lively, filled with the clanging of pots and pans. For nearly a month, the people here have been preparing for the festivals celebrating National Day on September 2nd. This locality has long been famous for hosting the "biggest Independence Day celebrations in the country."

Early in the morning of September 2nd, people gathered on both banks of the Kien Giang River, choosing their best spots in advance. Some carried basins to bail water, while others carried pots, drums, and horns to cheer. September 2nd also marked the final stage of the traditional boat racing festival on the Kien Giang River, determining the team with the best performance.

The festival officially opened at 7:00 AM on September 2nd. At this time, all the racing teams, with nearly 1,300 athletes, gathered in front of the floating stage for the opening ceremony, to take an oath of allegiance to the rules of the game and to prepare themselves mentally and physically for the best possible race.

According to Mr. Sau, before participating in the race, each person eats a slice of lemon to have the energy to cheer each other on and encourage each other during the race.

The festival featured 10 women's teams and 24 men's teams, with the women's teams starting first, followed by the men's teams. The most lively area was along both banks of the Kien Giang River, where thousands of people gathered to cheer on the athletes. They held buckets of water to splash the runners across the river, shouting the names of their local teams to boost the athletes' morale.
They even climbed trees to get the best panoramic view.
This joyful and lively atmosphere is always present in the countryside of Le Thuy whenever the National Day on September 2nd approaches.
