According to Oddity Central (UK), the robotics industry has witnessed several significant breakthroughs in the past few months. Notable examples include STAR1 – the world's fastest bipedal robot, and SE01 – notable for its smooth locomotion. However, in terms of practical applications in daily life, these robots still haven't met real-world needs.

That could soon change thanks to the latest innovation from 1X Robotics – the NEO Gamma.
This is a type of humanoid robot that can work as a housekeeper, performing many household chores such as cleaning, vacuuming, and even serving tea.
To make it feel more human-like, 1X collaborated with Shima Seiki, a Japanese knitting machine manufacturer, to create a soft suit of clothing that covered NEO Gamma's metal torso.
NEO Gamma is capable of performing a variety of flexible movements such as bending down to pick up objects, sitting on a chair, arranging items around the house, and even pouring tea.
The company used real-world human motion data to train robots to perform a variety of movements as naturally as possible.
The quietness of the NEO Gamma is also noteworthy, especially when living with the robot in the house. Thanks to its actuator system that mimics the mechanism of human tendons, the NEO Gamma operates at a noise level of only 10 dB, equivalent to the noise level of a modern refrigerator.
Advanced artificial intelligence integration allows NEO Gamma to operate autonomously, while also responding quickly to user commands via its four built-in microphones. NEO Gamma is not only capable of simple conversations but can also play music through the built-in speakers in its pelvis.
Bernd Bornig, CEO of 1X, stated: "In the near future, we will have household robots like Rosie or Baymax."
However, for humanoid robots to truly become a part of daily life, they need to be developed in parallel with humans. We look forward to sharing more information about NEO Gamma soon.”
Following the recent controversy surrounding a malfunctioning and aggressive humanoid robot in China, the question arises as to how many people would be willing to welcome robotic housekeepers like NEO Gamma into their homes.
