Song Cau Town has completed an investment project to renovate and replace over 2,000 trees along inner-city roads. The town aims to plant over 1.3 million new trees throughout the town by the end of 2025. The main objective of this activity is to contribute to environmental protection, climate change adaptation, improve aesthetics and quality of life for residents, and ensure sustainable development.

Dong Hoa town has also planted nearly 284,000 trees of various types, striving to achieve a public green space area of approximately 169 hectares. The locality is also focusing all resources on building, upgrading, and improving the urban green space system along roads, parks, and median strips. Specifically, from 2024 to the present, Dong Hoa town has implemented green space projects such as planting new trees, flowers, and grass, and installing irrigation systems on median strips of Hung Vuong road and National Highway 29 (from the fence of Regiment 915 to the town's Medical Center); and planting trees along roads in Hoa Hiep Bac, Hoa Hiep Trung, Hoa Hiep Nam, and Hoa Vinh wards. All of these aim to increase the proportion of green space and create a green, clean, and beautiful urban landscape.

According to the People's Committee of Dong Hoa Town, the tree planting project is linked to the plan to plant 15 million trees in the town from 2021 to 2025. In addition, the locality is planning green spaces based on the town's general plans approved by the Provincial People's Committee, gradually implementing the urban green space standards of the National Assembly Standing Committee on urban classification.

Tuy Hoa City has developed and implemented a project to plant 2 million trees in the city from 2021 to 2025. To date, the city has planted more than 1.3 million trees of various types, achieving a rate of 65.4%. The trees are mainly planted along roads, in parks, and in public spaces. According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Tuy Hoa City People's Committee, planting trees is a way for the city to increase its natural urban green space. Therefore, in addition to trees along roads, in buildings, and in residential areas, the city is increasing the number of parks and planning forest spaces within the city. Currently, the city is developing a chain of parks totaling nearly 100 hectares, helping to increase the green space ratio to 52.3% (66.19 hectares/126.56 hectares) and aiming for a green space ratio 1.6 times higher than the regulations.

Community participation

The activities of planting, caring for, and contributing trees always involve the participation of the entire society. In particular, tree planting has become a competitive movement in units and localities; caring for and protecting trees involves the active participation of the people and associations; and funding for purchasing seedlings comes not only from the state budget but also from social mobilization activities.

Mr. Nguyen Khoa Khang, Head of the Economic , Infrastructure and Urban Planning Department of Tuy Hoa City, said: The tree planting project in the city will be implemented from 2022-2025 using funds from the provincial budget, the city budget, and social mobilization. Specifically, out of more than 1.3 million trees planted, over 209 million were funded by the state budget, while the rest were mainly mobilized through social contributions. For example, Phu Yen Urban Environment Joint Stock Company provided seedlings and care for 30,124 trees of various types, and the Tuy Hoa City Forest Protection Department provided 659,310 trees… In addition, to increase urban green spaces, the Tuy Hoa City People's Committee encourages agencies, businesses, and residents to proactively plant trees at their offices, units, and in their gardens. Regarding tree care, the city assigns relevant departments and units, according to their functions and responsibilities, to regularly develop plans to effectively manage, preserve, maintain, replant, and develop the city's annual green space system.

Mr. Tran Minh Hoang, Director of Phu Yen Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, said: "Our company has a contract with the city to implement and be responsible for planting, caring for trees, and protecting the environment in Tuy Hoa City. In recent times, the company has actively increased the greenery on roads and median strips… Depending on the street space, the company plants suitable trees in accordance with aesthetic design themes and purposes. “A livable street space is one filled with greenery, where there is a diverse range of colors of flowers and leaves, attracting animals naturally with fruit trees and fragrant flowers, and a harmonious blend of different plant layers from ancient trees and low-lying trees to green lawns… The vibrancy of the trees will be a catalyst bringing a sense of relaxation to residents and tourists when they come to Tuy Hoa,” Mr. Hoang added.

According to the Tuy Hoa City People's Committee, in order to professionally increase green spaces in the city, in 2024, the Tuy Hoa City People's Committee organized a scientific workshop on "Improving the Greenery System in the City." To date, thanks to the dedicated suggestions of experts and scientists, the city has gradually increased natural green spaces, integrated urban space design with green space design, enhanced green space management capabilities using digital technology, and emphasized aesthetics in planting and caring for each type of tree…
