The home team quickly took control of the game and almost decided the match within the first 20 minutes. In the 14th minute, Harvey Barnes capitalized on a defensive error to set up Nick Woltemade for the opening goal. Just four minutes later, the lead was doubled when Jacob Ramsey played a precise through ball to William Osula, who calmly beat goalkeeper Mads Hermansen with a powerful shot.

Faced with a deadlock, manager Nuno Espirito Santo was forced to make a bold decision early on, substituting Jean-Clair Todibo for Valentín Castellanos, switching to an attacking formation in an attempt to find an equalizer.
